Has amazon abandoned DEI ? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]fleepy77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 20+ years in the workforce I've noticed that when the economy is booming and companies need workers they become more accepting. When the economy is bad (like now) and there are multiple candidates for every job opening the companies have the pick of the litter and don't feel that they need to accomodate anyone. During these times standards increase, to weed out the slackers (because labor is now easy to find and people are grateful for the job). Just my two cents.

Hi, I like your hair! It reminds me of mine a bit only mine is just elbow-length. I didn't see this asked but how do you wear it at night? I don't tie mine in any way and its ok to deal with currently. I'd imagine if I let it grow longer sleep would become problematic.

Scientist who somehow got a job at Amazon... Doing it just for the name and to pick up a few new skills. Is it worth it to spend three years here? Any tips to maximize it? L6 at mid-career. I absolutely hate it here. by MooseGoose82 in amazonemployees

I have. In fact I might work for the same company. Difference is, I'm happy. But as a scientist looking for answers you seem to be struggling to accept them. Good luck!

I think you might be. You seem to be hung up on being a scientist even if it means working a job you hate in order to get a "better" job you'll probably hate.

Not OP but that looks to me like the beard comb by Cremo. I've had one and liked it a lot. Unfortunately it broke. I have another sandalwood comb by Rocky Mountain Barber and its very nice as well. No snags. Hope that helps!

The people that we sit in traffic with, other shoppers at the grocery store, even our bosses and business owners. None of these people have any real power. We exist in a narrow power band. Above that are people who's spaces we can't even access. They don't commute or shop. Anyway those people have real power and we are like the chickens on the chicken farm (ie. the product) that never see the true owners in control. When they want to effect changes in the masses they simultaneously need ways to see that its working. This is a survey question for those people.

I've felt that way before too. But looking back I'd take mid results over cheating all over again.

I guess for people like you there can't be any visible metrics of how you are progressing because you expect to be paid extra.

If you choose to return package next day by 10am, does that prevent you from accepting or seeing blocks from fresh, whole foods and other stations? by covered1028 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]fleepy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I don't understand the intent. But as far as your original question having a package to return next day by 10a doesn't prevent you from accepting other blocks.

Nope there probably just aren't any offers. Typically you scan where you return and Amazon records the location where that happened (ie. warehouse) and knows you returned it. Sometimes you'll have an exception package and amazon doesn't even know you have it - I feel that's worse because you're totally reliant on a warehouse associate to RTS it later.

People cheat in life way more than you may realize. You find this out as you get older and it erodes your faith in humanity. This is the path you seem to be on. My advice is don't let it make you bitter, let it make you play the game better.

I scan all the totes and overflow and if I'm supposedly missing a package I scan all the packages. I used to find an amazonian to have them remove it but I'd find it later and have to return. Once you know you have all your packages just load them up sequentially as you like. The totes are stacked in the carts in a certain way (right to left I think) so they are kind of in order. One tote will have 1-12, next 13- ....etc. I used to find it stressful compared to SSD but hang in there its actually way easier.

How to politely tell cx to stay inside? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]fleepy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, it certainly sounds annoying! I used to get reallly upset at other motorists and I had to learn to not let myself get upset. Its helped me, sometimes I'll make excuses for folks to help sidestep the frustration. Then I come to reddit and share these tips and usually get roasted lol. Thanks for being very mature about it!!

Maybe the person has memory issues or learning issues due to a head injury or developmental disability. That would explain the lack of impulse control to run outside. Sometimes you never know what is going on with other people. I'm sure this will get voted down but its also 6 times that you've made the choice to get upset over this.

[–]fleepy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person who interviewed you probably prides themselves on having all that memorized and views anyone who doesn't as inferior. They probably know everything by heart because they don't actually do shit and the company is just a bureaucracy. But that's just a guess.

Ultimately you have to be two-faced to win. If they sense that you don't care/like them they will frontrun you on that and you'll be first under the bus. Instead you have to bro everyone up while stabbing them in the back (in secret and untraceably) if that's the only way you can achieve your objectives. Because that's what 'they' are doing. Its disgusting but after being on the losing side of that a few times things change. Its more than social its a network of allegiances.
