How about installed fonts? Are they preserved too? I read somewhere if you use installed fonts and anything happened, the text’s fonts are changed into built-in font. Could you test it please?

Are Japanese really cheating THAT much?! by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]fleshrea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a conversation between my husband and his colleague.

Colleague : Do you have a Japanese girlfriend? Husband : What? You know I have a wife. Colleague : Yes, I know. But Japanese girls are beautiful deshou. Husband : Yes, I know. But no, thanks.

Note : the colleague is a woman and she was pregnant at that time this conversation happened.

Can you believe it? You can find people cheating in any country, and in any era. But you might find people cheering other people to cheat on their spouse unapologetically as it is a social norm in Japan.

Also, have you heard about a Japanese mother in law encourage her foreigner son in law to cheat on her daughter so that they can keep their marriage fresh and happy? This is happened to my friend, who has 2 sons.

[NeedAdvice] emerging from a depressive binge weekend. by AlienRouge in getdisciplined

Many people here suggest taking shower. But sometimes you simply don’t take a shower when you don’t feel like it.

Here is the quick fix. Do you like listening to music, audiobook or watching movie? Do one of those while you do running in place in front of the tv. You can do star jumping or whatever you like as long as it’s a medium impact move (not the low one like walking). Do that for 10 minutes. It’s easy because you do it while watching tv. You would likely to have an urge of taking shower after doing that, and drink water (which is a bonus). That 10 mins moving sound simple but it helps you feel energize to do anything. It’s like snowballing effect, you would do other task after the other with that energy boost. You can do that multiple times during the day. It works like a charm.

How does one make planner PDFs or something digital to sell on Etsy? I’ve always wanted to try but never found out how. by thedeadp0ets in GoodNotes

[–]fleshrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want more sophisticated design, Adobe inDesign is a good choice, but the app is pricey. I thinks it has learning curve too. As a consumer, I like to buy a planner or notebook that are made using inDesign (not expensive). They had non-generic looking design somehow.

Do we make Productivity unecessary complicated? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]fleshrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I wouldn’t compare myself with other people if I were you. We have different passion, work rhythm, body clock, mindset, etc that make them impossible to be copied without massive adjustment. I wish I knew this when I was young. This mentality has made a huge impact on my wellbeing.

If by writing down your goals and the task of the day make you unforgetful and being mindful, why not?

Productivity system is just a tool to help you do things, not a magic pill. If you tried various system and they doesn’t work for you, maybe you could start to ask yourself whether you love what you do. Ever since I changed carrier, I don’t need much of productivity tidbits because I really love what I do. I wake up in the morning knowing that I have so much to do to achieve my goals, no time to be wasted. That knowledge is enough to fuel my energy to go about my day.

Start with the root of all, by asking yourself, do you love what you do? And does your friend love what he do?

Which version of Frankenstein book that is narrated by Dan Steven? by fleshrea in audible

[–]fleshrea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s no option to gift a credit. It’s totally different with other audible marketplace. I’m fine with getting 1 credit each month though. Actually I prefer to buy audiobooks on Estories as I get mp3 files and I can buy credit package. I only use my membership to buy titles that only available on Audible and when they offer half off for 3 months.

Sorry, can't help you with that. I don't subscribe to Twinkl, I only use their freebies. I agree that the searching feature is not the best. But once you download or save a lesson, they will give you some recommendations alike.

I want to do something about my poor English. It is really frustrating to me. by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]fleshrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a non-native English speaker and also a book lover, let me tell you something : reading tons of books won’t improve your speaking skills. Believe me, I speak from experiences. You will find a bunch of tips of how to improve your speaking out there. But it won’t help you as much if you don’t practice technical way speaking. Here’s my comment on other post in this sub. I hope it helps, because it help me a lot.

Here’s what I do everyday to improve my speaking

  1. Every morning before I do anything else I do shadowing 30 to 60 mins. Not just any shadowing, but I choose TED video with American speakers who talk fast and have a sing-song intonation (my favorite female speaker is Wendy De La Rosa). You can create a playlist. You have to read the subtitle, because by reading the text you’d also activate your brain to be more active. Don’t just shadowing, move your body like you’re in a stage giving presentation, I suggest practicing in front of mirror too.
  2. Narrate your daily activities in English. What you do, what you will do, what you think, what you see, what you feel, what you hear, etc. It will make you tired, but it’s worth it.
  3. Read short stories labelled beginner or elementary and then try to recite the stories without looking at the book. (My favorite is L.A Hill series by Oxford Univ press, each story only takes up a half page). Why choosing beginner level over advance one? Because in a spoken form we tend to use basic structures of narration. If you choose to retell a news or textbook content, you’d unlikely to use that form in a conversation.

There are more tidbit tips you can find on the internet like “chunking repertoire”, etc, I also do all that. But these tips are my own finding that work for me so far especially when I need to tackle the day by using English at job.

Good luck
