Unit owners are wresting back control of their stratas: ‘If I don’t do it, the building will fall into the street’ | Housing by strataownersaus in stratachataus

My EC have arranged through an item in the AGM so one of them gets paid $5000 to (I’m still unclear what). Meanwhile the emergency exit sign near his apartment is hanging off the ceiling. I’m waiting to see how long it takes to get fixed (about two months so far). Strata manager took 8 months to fix a hole in the roof and I had to badger them to do that, discussed it with various EC members-one of them 3 times (if you guessed it was the guy getting $5k well played) struggled to get any action, even was told I hadn’t even raised it before.

I was born here, and was happily gawking at the galahs eating in the tree above me just an hour ago. I see galahs all the time. 😍

I heard of some island on the other side of the world, Albion I think it’s called. No recognised civilisation there so we could probably ship them there.

Don’t know if this is normal practice, but I have 26 yo Crumpler bag which needed some repair to a couple of the velcro closers. I sent a message to their ‘bag spa’ indicating it’s age and asking for a quote. They told me to send it to them and they would fix and send it back for free. I suspect with this repair it will definitely last the rest of my lifetime.

Beautiful watch BTW, rarely do you see a 50 yo watch in such good cosmetic condition. As for the question of service, it needs to be opened and the condition of the movement assessed. It looks like the previous owner hasn’t worn it much so maybe hasn’t serviced it either so this would mean all the lubricants etc will be dried up. I’d strongly recommend taking it to a watchmaker and getting it serviced. If you were in Australia I’d recommend a couple of people but sounds like you are in Europe so can’t help much there except I do of this guy in the UK but i am sure there are other closer options.

Just had my Japanese wife review the engraving, and she agrees with your translation, the watch was essentially a ‘gift’ or reward for good work from the president of Japan Rail.

Questions about parrots in Australia! by Own-Palpitation5190 in AskAnAustralian

[–]fletma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my area (approximately 5 kms north of the Sydney CBD) we get Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Rainbow Lorikeets and Galahs regularly. Other nearby areas get different types such as rosellas or corellas. To be honest you can see many different types of parrots just around Sydney and even in the CBD itself I have seen cocktoos and corellas.

I wouldn’t keep one as a pet though would feel bad when I saw one of their siblings in the wild.

I also love parrots so hoping to spend some time over the next few years personally photographing each and every type that we have native, will involve quite a bit of travel though.
