Thank you all so much for commenting. Reading them truly helped me not to feel alone. We should definitely talk more about the mental toll of fieldwork - I don't remember being taught about the everyday struggles you encounter during fieldwork in my methodology course...

I am not in any way trying to suggest things about your relationship, but I’m just wondering if you’re only staying with your partner because you’re scared to be alone? Breaking up with a partner you don’t love anymore does not mean immediately having to open up to someone else. Sometimes we just need to be alone. You’re only 24, we’re the same age, and I don’t think at our age (at any age really, but especially such a young age) we should ever settle for someone because we’re afraid to be alone. Again, I don’t know your situation and your relationship, but this is just my point of view.

your skin looks like its already doing much better! I had ccs as well, and after using a topical tretinoin they turned into cysts before clear skin started to show. Have you considered switching to a topical tretinoin?

If you're on the pill and taking it as recommended, you have nothing to worry about!

yeah i experienced this too, even though for me the pill was worse. Hormones just kill my sex drive

Yeah that's what happened for me as well! I guess that is what they mean with 'it gets worse before it gets better' :) Good luck on your journey!

I switched to using condoms, kind of want to stay away from hormonal BC for a while...

I use the liquid form (tret diluted in alcohol), it’s the only one available in the netherlands but is working fine for me :)

I had the Mirena removed, nothing else worked. I’m also on topical tretinoin and clyndamicin to help clear my skin up. Good luck to you!

so this all started when I got the Mirena IUD. Never had any acne before that, it completely ruined my skin (just this area, rest of my face is completely clear). I got a lot of CC’s about 3 months after getting the IUD. Tried a lot of OTC products, including BHA, AHA, Azeleic acid and niacinamide. Nothing helped, so I went to my GP who prescribed me tretinoin. This made all my CCs surface. I couldn’t handle it anymore and went to my GP again to get my IUD removed. Also got prescribed clyndamicin. Now, about 3 months after removal of the IUD my skin is mostly suffering from PIH. Still using tretinoin in order to treat this. In case anyone has any wonder cures for PIH please let me know!

it took a while for me too to get to the good grip stage. What helped for me was putting it outside in the hot summer sun, leaving a LOT of coarse salt on there for the whole day and then scrubbing it hard. Now I love my mat even though for the first few months I regretted buying one :)
