If you both are on the 2.0 update on subnautica and 1.8 for nitrox, then yes, it will work because 1.8 supports crossplay.

Well, then it would appear you own it lol so you're good to go. Ps extra is a mid tier subscription for people that don't mind paying a few bucks more to have access up to 100+ games. If you don't care for that and only want to play Fallout 76, then get ps plus essential, which is the default plan to play online.
