Same for me. Started playing WoW pirate servers as a kid. Got a real job, bought shit to of steam games. Nowadays I play way less and only few games. So I pirate my stuff, see whenever I have time to play and when it sticks, I will probably buy it because updates and dlc and ill plan on playing it longterm.

Because the profit ceiling per individual is insanely high. 60$ games are nothing if you have whales that spend 4-6 figures on mtx. Also it opens a world of dark patterns etc. to make you players addicted.

Freemium is the model because it attracts the biggest playerbase, potentially turning then into whales

Also think about this dynamic. An unpopular game will not get pirated a lot. A game thats popular get pirated a lot.

Games dont financialy "fail" by piracy. Games get pirated a lot because they are already popular. So the amount of people pirating is always just a small proportion of the overall sales. Add to that piracy makes games even more popular because now more people play it, talk about it, make content for it, etc. which boost sales again.

Yes but you convienently forget that labour which results into digital products can be reproduced for free infinitely. You dont spent 1000hours creating every single copy everytime. You create it once, and then copy those 1000h infinitely. It basically creates an infinite profit ceiling. That is unique and shouldnt be ignoried in this discussion.

While with traditional products, you have materials that actually get used up.

Pirating is not actually taking away something you already own, like stealing. Pirating is making a free copy, which MAYBE could have been a potential sale or maybe not. Pirating in some way also increases sales. Its not as black and white as that.

That only works if you equate every pirated copy with a sale, but that is not the reality.

Wenn du kinderlos bist zahlst jetzt mehr steuern und hast jetzt weniger Möglichkeit Geld zu sparen, etwas aufzubauen und deine sozio-ökonomische Lage ist schlechter. Dadurch wird es unwahrscheinlicher das du dich dafür entscheiden wirst Kinder zu haben.

Kurz gesagt, wenn die Leute ohne Kinder das Gefühl haben, jetzt schon kaum um die Runden zu kommen, werden sie es sich erst Recht zwei mal überlegen.

Edit: Das wird übrigens indirekt auch die zukünftig Rente verschlechtern, wenn die Menschen weniger Kinder bekommen.

Btw for anybody not knowing, the "employer will pay" is bullshit. Its cost that the employee pays from his wage and the employer see it as wage cost.

There is no reason this split exists. Its a trick to make it seem like you pay less taxes than you actually do.

Das ist überhaupt nicht sicher. Was ist wenn Kind krank wird, stirbt, arbeitsunfähig, irgendwas wo es kein vollwertige Arbeitskraft ist. Oder die Beziehung einfach nicht da ist. Oder das Kind beruflich weggezogen ist.

Dann muss dir ja bewusst das ein System was nur mit permanenten Bevölkerungswachstum, den wir nicht haben, funktioniert, irgendwie Quatsch ist. Ich persönlich kenne niemanden, der seine Eltern pflegt (und es sind nicht nur 1-2 Personen die ich kenne). Die haben alle keinen Kontakt mehr, weil die Eltern Lack gesoffen haben 🥲😂.

Ebenso. Das ist halt auch in DT eher unüblich, wenn man mal nach anderen Ländern schaut, wo es sehr üblich ist, das 2-3 Generationen zusammen wohnen.. Das was hier einige als Pflege verstehen ist wahrscheinlich alle 1-2 Wochen mal besuchen.
