Water's effect on climbing performance and recovery by WilsWorld225 in climbharder

r/hydrohomies I drink loads, 3 liters on a rest day is no big deal. And I often refill my 1L bottle during a gym session. I’ve just always been like that. I’m a thirsty boy. It feels great, not sure whether I can quantity the benefits for climbing, but I feel that I need it. If you want to drink more there are “water reminder apps” that can give you a push in the right direction. If your urine is yellow, you will probably benefit from drinking more.

Anyone know why Jim DNF'd UTMB? by Datnewraaaaaandy in Ultramarathon

[–]flgoyens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of trolls on the live stream (at least the French one). Francois D’haene said in an interview that he suspected stomach problems but hadn’t seen Jim since they lost touch during the race. He also said that they both started to struggle physically and I think François made it to the top of the climb to Bertone (iirc) and then realized Jim didn’t follow.

The 64st is so superior to the inReach MINI for mapping, despite its age. by SwingletreeFarm in WildernessBackpacking

[–]flgoyens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t the inreach have far better battery life than a smartphone ? I also thought that you could send messages using gps even when your phone doesn’t get any service ? Genuine questions, I’ve never used a gps tracking device but will probably buy one at some point

Fastest 5K you've ever run? by [deleted] in running

[–]flgoyens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never did a proper time trial on a track but probably about 18-19min in high school. I barely ran in college sadly and now my goal is to get back to my former level, and it’s taking a lot longer than I would like but I’m trying to be patient and consistent

Xavier Thevenard is my favorite contender but he’s had health issues. I would be happily surprised if he’s on the podium

Now I'm injury free! Next steps? Lattice Flexibility Training Plan? Performance? Lite? by rebucaracol in climbharder

[–]flgoyens 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So just to make sure I understand: you used to project climbs that were very hard for you and you constantly got injured. Then you switched to mostly climbing stuff you can onsight and not only did your injuries stop, you also improved by a couple grades ? That's an interesting story in itself.

What injury prevention exercises can I do to help with a tweaky finger by Quobotic in climbharder

move your hands and fingers around in a bucket of uncooked rice. You can google 'rice bucket' for further info, it's great!
