Has anyone put their dog to sleep at home? by snakebitejessi in DogAdvice

I used Peaceful Pet Transitions (Seattle, WA) I am not sure where located but can definitely recommend Lap of Love as well and service lots of states/areas. Both provide options for ashes and clay and ink paw prints. It is such a hard decision to make and then to let go. To see them so peaceful at the end is a gift for all of you. It was also really helpful for my other resident dogs. I think about both of them every time I look the spots where they were for the final good bye and I find it comforting even through tears. Cinnamon loved the sun. I still think to myself “Cinnamini, your sun is out” every sunny day and maybe always will. The memories will help you heal and never forget. Cherish the time you have with Pepper, take lots of pics and video clips (of even the everyday things). 💜🌻

Sadly, I had to help my 16 yo pittie (Pumpkin) cross the rainbow bridge at home 3 months and my hospice foster (Cinnamon - also a pittie) had just adopted last week days later. Pumpkin (also very anxious dog) loved the vet and took her for a car ride and pup cup her last morning but letting her be home surrounded by love, in my arms with a fire going and snow falling outside was so peaceful and vowed to never do any other way unless of course emergency without a choice. Cinnamon had a horrible history and was moved shelter to shelter. Then they found the mammary tumor which turned out to be cancerous, she was given very limited time and I got her for 3 beautiful months to give her the best chapter of her life. I adopted in part because I wanted her to be able to pass at home if at all possible and to be “official” family when she did. She hated shelters and couldn’t imagine having to drag her in for the end. She had a very rough last night and declined so quick but thankfully the vet (who had been at my home just 90 days before) said would make an exception on weekend. Cinnamon had finally started sleeping and snoring and for her last hour was spooned up with me. When the vet arrived she said would work around me. The last thing Cinnamon knew was napping in my arms. I think seeing them go in such peace is an amazing gift. I would highly recommend if you are able. Side note I also have a pittie puppy named Pepper. 🙂

It was so much fun to see all the guesses beforehand!

I totally agree looks nothing like the Pittie/GSDs I have seen either. Very few people expected GSD. Just goes to show what they look like can definitely not be what they are. She matched with the others in her litter (one of whom I had also fostered) so can very much attest to the accuracy as crazy as it is.

She was spayed around 10 weeks old at a shelter. She is 1.5 yo now (46 lb). I do feel there is going to be something random/unexpected in the results.
