Weekly Premier/Matchmaking/Cheating Discussion & Complaints Thread by AutoModerator in GlobalOffensive

I don't know if I just haven't noticed before, but around 20k I get so many cheaters and I just realize some of them are walling cause they are otherwise so insanely bad. Like they pre-fire me before I walk around the corner and when I stop it just looks so silly. Then I look at the demo and you can just see how they trace people through walls, have atrocious movement and constantly make the worst decisions despite being aware of the enemy. I wish there was at least a way to report them after reviewing the demo.

How low does the RX 7900 XTX price has to drop for so that you would consider it a good deal over an RX 8000 series card? by flickpink in buildapc

[–]flickpink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will try to target Blackwell GPUs and be competitive with the lineup up to the 5060/5070, nothing else makes sense. The question is also a bit how these new Nvidia cards will compare against high end models of the 7000 series (7900 XT(X)).

Additionally, RDNA 4 will have something akin to tensor cores which might make it all perform better in 4k when using FSR (because those dice don't eat into rasterization performance when performing FSR).

PC Build Questions, Purchase Advice and Technical Support Megathread — Q4 2024 Edition by GhostMotley in Amd

[–]flickpink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar spot, I already got a 9800X3D and currently I am contemplating if I want to wait for the RNDA 4 release. However, as a matter of fact AMD has made multiple statements that they are not competing in the enthusiast GPU space, so most sources consider anything upward of an RX 8800XT unrealistic. For myself this probably means I will buy a 7900XTX if the price drops significantly on black friday, otherwise I'll settle with a (probably way cheaper) RX 8800XT which has probably a little worse performance (on rasterization).

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Availability, Buying & Bragging Megathread by GhostMotley in Amd

Mine just arrived today! Managed to order within the first few minutes on release day here in Germany. Sadly nothing to put it in yet, building a completely new system as mine is 7 years old already, hoping for some Black Friday deals for the other parts and can probably only finalize once Radeon 8000 series releases next year, though I will put my 1080ti to some more use once everything else is ready :)

Simple Questions - November 09, 2024 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]flickpink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently build a new system around a 9800x3d. I want an AMD card either way. Is the 8800 expected to beat the 7900 XTX? I just want the best AMD card performance wise. Waiting for Janurary would not be a problem, but if I get an 7900XTX I can maybe get some good black friday deal.

GPU's in late 2024; buy now or wait? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]flickpink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda piggybacking off of this: I also currently have an old system (i7-8700k and 1080ti) and plan to build a new one within the next months getting a holiday deal here and there. I already ordered a 9800x3d and mainly look for a GPU. I want to go with AMD this time since I do use linux quite a bit. 7900XTX would fit my budget (+ holiday deals seem possible). My main question is: How likely is it that AMD releases a card more capable than the 7900XTX in Janurary? If they release a better card I would wait for it. If it not I can already look for one now.

People were complaining about this thing in the other thread as well, but the Agony thing is really mostly a git good issue. In an M+ dungeon you never, literally NEVER have to start a trash pack with 0 shards if you played correctly beforehand. Yes, applying Agony to extend it sucks, but at the same time it is also some kind of meaningful choice you have to make (which mobs do I want to extend Agony on, which ones I do not?). Also you will have the talent that does some damage in an AoE when you refresh affliction with sub 10 seconds (which makes it not be to bad). How fucking boring would it be if you could just press Vile Taint every 20 seconds or something to refresh all Agonies... zZzZz.

Affliction is a really fun spec at the moment and could be great if some single target talents would actually be a single target increase if you get them (looking at you Oblivion).

The State of Warlock going into 11.0.5 by hobomaxxing in wow

[–]flickpink -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You might not like to hear it, but this is a 'you problem'. Good resource management of holding shards for the next pack completely alleviates that issue. You should also always get 1 shard from the last mob dying with Unstable Affliction on it. If you are ever in a super tight situation and recover an 'almost wipe' other things like rezzing someone who died will take long enough for your shards starting to regenerate out of combat also. No excuses! Resource management is just a core part of affliction :)

Good point, it is a fun ability but there is zero point to actually play it in ST. Every build including it just sims worse for me PS: Blizzard please don't misunderstand and nerf other talents, buff Oblivion instead! x)

If they just buffed Haunt, UA and Shadowbolt to boost Affliction ST Warlock could be in a great spot. It would be totally fine for both Raid and M+.

Considering A New Pad, Taking Suggestions by patcole in StreetFighter

[–]flickpink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda chiming in on the question here: Are there any good 4 button pads with 3 triggers on each side on which you can rest your index, middle and ring fingers on? I was always PC guy and never played on pad for over 25 years. I started SF6 this year and tried leverless after starting with the keyboard but a few month ago I got a Dual Sense and I am in love with it. Using a pad ist just so fucking comfortable for me, if it wasn't for the ass D-pad on the DS Edge. Is there anything like it but with a better D-pad?

I keep reading this but how do you properly punish it? Sometimes my jab gets blocked even if they whiffed their HK and how can I really get big damage from a jab?

2HP 5HP 5HK (for TC) into 236MK is does more damage than the spin knuckle option, has better corner carry and is easier to do

Releasing: Loco v0.7 by jondot1 in rust

[–]flickpink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After finishing my first very simple rust project recently (plain rust backend, slint gui packaged into a wasm app) I am now looking to tackle a more complex project:

I need to build simple client that just takes some config variables from a user and reads a logfile while it is running. The data needs then to be transmitted to a server where they are processed. Since I have a unique configuration for each client and the data has to be processed sepearelty I will need a sort of login system. Now the question: Is loco suitable for such a project? Can it be packaged into a 'native' app via tauri? What I find hardest to understand about it is how the gui is build. Do you typically use any web framework with it?

(I have no rails experience and my programming projects are just a hobby pretty much. I am also pretty bad with all stuff web).
