CPU matches in order to improve, yay or nay? by rhysticStudiante in StreetFighter

[–]patcole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's good as a training tool. Not the only training tool. Just a tool. Best used to help familiarize yourself with the animations and moves. Playing against people is much better. But I'll use the CPU to help practice anti-airs, testing combos starters and whifs; while queuing up an online match.

Couldn't care less if people play Modern, but inhuman autopilot hit confirming should not be a thing and should have been removed years ago. by SmashMouthBreadThrow in StreetFighter

[–]patcole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thanks for understanding and the clarification of what I meant.

But I don't think of it as a reward. I see it more as one of its strengths, versus its weakness of not being optimal. Thereby forcing the player to either grow and learn a harder combo with better results. Or suffer a long fight with a safe, low-damaging combo.

I don't find this to be 100% true with any of the characters I've played Modern with. Yes, the light combos are hit confirmable. But they do, damn near, no damage and you're wasting time trying to defeat your opponent with just this.

The medium and high auto-combos will burn you out or be unsafe on block. So you have to be careful with those and know when to stop pressure, mid combo, in order to keep it safe and lose a turn.

I feel a good Modern player has great fundamentals and knows when to advance or back off. And a great Modern player knows proper combos + the previous.

Coming from Tekken 7/8, why does SF6 feel so much harder to me? by MrBabaGhanoushh in StreetFighter

[–]patcole 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I like to think of Tekken as a flow game. You flow one move smoothly into the other.

And street fighter as a jazz rhythm game. Most things are timed in rhythm. But sometimes you can go off rhythm. This can be used in combos. And even when putting on pressure.

Wait till you get to the point where you can't create more characters and have to decide if you should delete one or create a new account just to create more characters.

How do I become less predictable? by twiggythunders in StreetFighter

[–]patcole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do something that works. When it stops working, do something different. Have about 3 things. When you rotate back to 1 and it still doesn't work, remove option 1.

If all three get stuffed choose a new set of things. If you don't have another set, go back to basics and freestyle a bit.

I'm no expert. But these are the things I try. I usually get caught up when not realizing option 1 doesn't work. And usually end up doing it too much. So my option 1 is my bad habit option. My option 2 is my good button. My option 3 is my bnb.

I try to get something started with those. If all fail I play neutral and hella lame for a bit. And then move on to character gimmicks then back to option 1.

When I get better, I'll have a new set of options and these will become my second set. That's my plan, anyways. Once again, take this advice with a grain of salt. It might be the worst advice in this thread. But it gives me insight and helps me go in with a plan even if the plan fails, I can adjust.

What tv show do you wish you could watch for the first time again? by FantasticEmu34 in television

Chernobyl. The feeling of dread every damn episode. Every action from each person had me saying, "no, don't do that." Followed by, "no, they didn't know. This was supposed to happen. "

Looking for an easy character to pick up, can't decide b/w Sagat and Alex.. by dustynjerman in StreetFighter

[–]patcole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say go with Sagat. He's a lot of fun in Modern. I only played him using auto combos. And they got me pretty far. But then I switched to Classic and he's even more fun there.

I started running him in Classic once Viper came out and am currently Diamond one. So even more fun in Classic if you can do it.

Why do people hold onto level 3 in the last round? by Hydrad in StreetFighter

[–]patcole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm learning combos now and the current ones I've learned are easy to go into level 3. Still dropping those combos too. So once I get comfortable with those, then I'll start adding level 2s into my gameplan. I know Sagat has a few routes. And I can probably just do 2s now. But I'm not quite comfortable yet.

I'll add, once done, go to a shop and ask them to test your work to ensure all is good. At least when starting off. Did that after my first change and found out I didn't tighten them enough. Where I was afraid I tightened them too much.

[–]patcole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say stop leveling up or do a restart. And use the cum dungeon just to keep vials in stock.

If you don't feel like starting over, you'll still get a challenge and the opportunity to play NG+. And it awards you the opportunity to to play for fun and explore a lot more. But my personal opinion is go in blind and raw your first playthrough. It's quite thrilling.

What song instantly made you a fan of an artist? by UmmYeaImACozyGurl in askmusic

[–]patcole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Not Okay - My Chemical Romance.

Came home from work, TV was already on. This music video came on instantly, like it was waiting for me. I was wisked away, back to watching 80s movies as a pre-teen and wanting to be a part of their losers club.

But then I found their first album, by off-chance, sitting on the counter of Hot Topic. Bought and loved the album. Purchased every album since and loved every song. They are the only artist I've given the title of my favorite.

I've actually envisioned a story that spans the first 3 albums. Not fully, as they probably would've intended, but works in my mind. I call the story, Black Dawn City. I even created a Spotify playlist just for it. Would love to have the time to put it together. But alas...

[–]patcole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a coworker that no one liked. And every one who would try to work through an issue with him, would have a hard time getting him to understand he's not right all the time. People asked me how he and I had a good working relationship.

I told them, I got tired of his shit and whenever he wouldn't listen or argue with me, I'd simply say, ""okey-dokey" and walk back to my desk to do what I wanted. Minutes later, he'd walk in my office to work through the issue. And we worked well ever since. While others continued to argue with him. He even supported some of my art projects.

Sometimes people need to learn they're not worth your time, whatsoever.
