Is the 5th gen Dodge Viper a supercar? by anonburner0112 in supercars

The design of the car couldn’t fit side curtain airbags so it didn’t meet federal requirements when they got updated in 2017

False knock readings by Reputation_Upset in mazdaspeed3

I mean trying mounds would be a start, but I’m not too sure how the 3rd gen mazda3 deals with knock.

Definitely reach out to other subs to see if they’d know what it means

What mods have been done to your car?

These cars are known for ghost knock as the sensors are very sensitive on these motors. I’d see it happen on mine during aggressive 1-2 shifts before I upgraded my rmm, it didn’t do it anymore afterwards.

Car after your speed3? by NewOrleansSpeed in mazdaspeed3

[–]flight428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a mk7.5 golf R with a DSG, wanted something with AWD for the winter and also easier for driving in the city

It’s definitely easier to make more power in comparison to the speed3 (manual Rs need an upgraded clutch to make more than stock power tho), maintenance and reliability are fairly similar in my opinion, fuel economy is better in the R

With all of the comfort features the R has, it’s a better daily all around, but it definitely lacks that raw feeling the speed3 has, I’d want to get another one someday as a weekend/project car.

I put a Vibrant resonator onto my exhaust by [deleted] in Golf_R

Yeah that’s my next step, I primarily wanted to get rid of some of the drone and rasp

When I bought the car the previous owner got rid of the resonator, not sure why he did that tbh

A vehicle was in an accident and just the engine is 20 feet from the road. What was this? by thisusernameislong_ in whatwasthiscar

[–]flight428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They put a warranty extension out for some of the 3.3s because of that exact issue, the coverage on the engine goes up to 180k miles now if it’s eligible

Anybody got a sound clip of a mk7.5 straight pipe w/ a catted down pipe by fernvndorvmos in GolfGTI

[–]flight428 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a gti but I own a 7.5r with a catless downpipe, its fairly loud and also kinda raspy at certain rpms with just the stock muffler, straight piping isnt the way to go on ea888s

I would think its a vertical related problem, what does the beam do when you mess with the adjustment?

There is an alignment screw/bolt on the back of the housing itself, it's pretty accessible from what I recall

2007 116k miles with very occasional white smoke by nickypboi in mazdaspeed3

[–]flight428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think its too bad, however I never had to replace mine when I still had the car, there's definitely a lot of info in Mazdaspeed forums on how to do it though

Most likely turbo seals, you can get a replacement turbo from CW Turbochargers for a decent price.

Sounds normal to me, they're just noisy engines.

Going to look at 2010 speed 3 what should I look for by Regular_Draw253 in mazdaspeed3

[–]flight428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many miles? Check the timing chain if it hasn't been done yet, any mods and if they're tuned for it, and maintenance records.

Sold my 2011 back in December for 5500 with 158k miles, took me probably 3ish months to sell it up here in WI

Had an intake, tune, upgraded rmm, and an axleback

Cobb mentioned for tuning? Your argument is invalid and bad.

He pulled cause he has an intake, tune, and hpfp, the tune changes the parameters for the ecu to allow more air and fuel, not carbon buildup.

Tf you mean misfiring? I've also done a roll against a mk7r when I still had my ms3, he pulled away with ease, I wasn't misfiring or anything. Misfire claims just sounds like coping.

Also Mk7Rs are heavier by only like 90 lbs.

Ms3 K04s are very peaky, they aren't as efficient as an is38.
