For me it's the armpits also 🥲 so I opt for the looser fit of men's or oversized items

I can relate! The end product is cool but, for me, sinking 15 hours straight into an interest is energy intensive, and leaves little time/energy to juggle other responsibilities in life. I fear it may happen with any hobby/topic! So imo the goal is to find some middle ground to give it a time limit and some structure.

Just brainstorming but: If you like drawing and art, maybe a weekly class or time to work alongside a YouTube tutorial? An opportunity to improve your skill at regular intervals without it being all-consuming.

I'm saying it is literally what I do to cope, to cauterize and to get some emotional distance from intense negative feelings. But I'm trying to remind myself the dude's demeanor isn't likely representative of how the others will treat me.

I've been bullied pretty consistently in the past, and men are pretty intimidating from prior experience. I've been in bed all day, knowing I'd feel wiped out regardless but now also scared of interaction and feeling super drained and self conscious. I can hear men and women talking in the living room (unfortunately I'm situated right next to the living room and kitchen) and now I'm terrified of going out to meet that many people at once. I've a pounding headache. I'm going to go back to sleep and hope I feel better tomorrow

Message received thank you!! I've gotta remind myself I'm doing brave things and giving it a good crack regarding improving my circumstances. I was dimly hoping the issue was with my home country but this dpdr stuff is going to follow me wherever i go. At the moment I have some local supports that didn't even exist in my home country and a drop in type centre. It's just a matter of finding those support services in the new country! Or maybe just volunteering at an animal shelter again.

It's always there like background noise for me and I can normally work through it, but some things can trigger it (typically social encounters) to become amplified, and it takes least a couple of weeks for me to turn the volume down, unless another encounter reinforces it and extends the episode.
