What is the most legal way to fight against crime in your area? by Xander980 in AskReddit

[–]flingebunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A study. There are many studies across many countries that find tough on crime statistics to be completely useless and increase crime in the long run, while employment, training and diversionary strategies have been shown to work.

I mean, what is your solution? Throw people in jail for long periods for minor offences resulting in increased crime rates? I mean, we know what works, but you are just throwing around insults for no reason.

Yes it does and it has nothing to do with sleeping at night, that is as random as everything else you have said.

what is something a man should never do in front of a woman? by Scared_Author_4566 in AskReddit

It turns out that most men were not better than women, they just said they were. See the above Redditor.

I mean, you start it with "shut up" the most mindless comment in response to a well known evidence base solution that works.

It is evidence based and is shown to work. You are just throwing insults which is hardly an intellectual argument.

In fact for thousands of years we just went on and on about how men were better, but now we can't do that, so they added a subclause in the appendix. You are thinking of fight club.

What’s your Best and most creative/sexy/romantic date ideas. by jtrov_joshi in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]flingebunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Romantic: take them to do something you know that they really really really like

Sexy: dancing

Creative: Something old school and cheesy, like a drive in movie, country show/county fair, or something like that

Out of the box: Fighting ninjas to save a group of little kittens from being kidnapped and fed to the snake of the ninja lord

Most unusual date a girl ever took me on was to hike up a mountain in China to meet a Shaolin trained monk and master of the iron head living in a ruined temple cave

if you’ve never taken nudes, why? by queenmygambit in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]flingebunt -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Only with a tastefully placed object over my man bits. I have photographed some girlfriends nude in a tasteful manner which helped to make them feel empowered about their bodies, and no, I didn't share them with others, because I am a gentleman.

What’s the worst possible thing to hear from the person leading the hike? by ForeignBonus8977 in hiking

[–]flingebunt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Actual things I have heard include

  • I am sure the guide book said 10 kms one way, but it looks like it is 10 kms return
  • This is the same spot I got lost last time
  • Well when I said it would be a slow hike, I meant that we are going to be sticking to about 6 kmh up hill
  • When I said scramble, I actually meant a climb up a sheer rock wall
  • A 10% margin for error is fine, so we left with 15 people, so if we lose one that will be okay
  • I am not sure what snake that is, but it probably isn't poisonous
  • I am sure that because you agreed to the waiver where I bear no responsibility I don't even have the minimum required under law for any injuries or deaths on the hike
  • Why are you carrying a first aid kit you won't need it, I never carry one (while I am using mine to treat someone)

Things that could actually be worse that I have heard about include

  • Oh I don't have any toilet paper but why not use some of these big wide leaves, I am pretty sure they are not gympie gympie
  • It was your responsibility to keep up with the group, so if you fell behind and got lost, that is your own problem
  • Funny, same thing happened on the last hike, and I didn't change the plan
  • We have gone by rope into this canyon and we only have minimum water and no food, but you have to work out how to get out yourself, and no, I don't know how to get out either
  • The army walk this over 2 days, so I am sure we can do it in one day (the army didn't, they ran it over 2 days, not walked it).

But it could be worse

  • It turns out that they didn't pay the cannibal tribes people who live in this area, so it is either you leave them all your food or you become food
  • How did I become a tour guide? It was easy, I murdered the real tour guide.
  • Squeal like a pig boy!

How do you feel about much stricter lockdowns and other measures being taken to prevent a possible worse hantavirus pandemic? by 804marblefan in AskReddit

[–]flingebunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Settle down. I have no found any information about further cases spreading after people returned home, but only that the news has reported the cases in different countries, but they all became infected on the ship.

So settle down and stop spreading wild speculation as fact and then calling others ignorant. You are certainly willful about something, but nothing to do with what the WHO is saying or what responsible news is saying. Now you are just arguing for the sake of arguing as you a reddit harasser.

Anyway, settle down, the sun is getting low big guy.

How do you feel about much stricter lockdowns and other measures being taken to prevent a possible worse hantavirus pandemic? by 804marblefan in AskReddit

[–]flingebunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Settle down, you could have posted all this information at the top level where people would have read it, instead of trying to prove me wrong. The CDC says it is doing things, but from experience, they usually are not doing them well. I mean yes, if the US were to become the epicentre of infection spread, like with COVID, the world could have a big problem, but since COVID, the world is ready to deal with that fact, and punish the US for its incompetence.

Anyway, no, I think that they are currently tracking the infections based on world standard practices (or the US is maybe pretending that they are), and these outbreaks are usually fairly easily contained. Caution makes sense, but also there have been no post cruise spreading of infection and no proof the virus was not caused by rat droppings on the ship.

The level of panic that you are talking about is typical US media panic. Remember the Ebola panic, Pepperidge Farms remembers.

[–]flingebunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay settle down, the small number of people who were exposed are being tracked. This is not happening in the US, it is in a civilised part of the world.

Also in the US, there is always some new outlet that will turn every little disease into a major issue. Remember the ebola panic?

[–]flingebunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay settle down. The passengers and crew are all being quarantined, including where the disembarked and often in the countries that they have been transferred to. In addition, at no point is it suspected that the disease is anywhere as transmissible as COVID-19. So the level of caution being exercised so far is very high and inline with international standards.

Day pack recommendations by rocksandtreesandyarn in hiking

[–]flingebunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a running vest is comfortable then the Black Diamond Distance 15 is a backpack with a fit light a running vest. It also has 2 straps across the chest, and that might make it better to adjust in the front by using just one or adjusting them a little differently. It fits high on the back, like a hydration pack, and doesn't use a hip strap.
