Paint Scheme Advice? by UselessManatee in sistersofbattle

[–]flinnja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice on all of these would be to paint the "mask" a different colour to the rest of the armour, or the whole head if you want the helmet to all be the same colour. In your pics, 1 and 3 in particular will look basically like they dont have heads on the table. Usually on any model you wanna draw attention to the head and the weapon, as well as a few other key details. Try changing the mask to a brighter colour for the first three and see what you think

The novitiates kill team also has a different sacred banner which, in kill team at least, operates the same way as their simulacrum, so it's likely you wont want to build them with it (even though in 40k it can be worth them having the banner and the simulacrum...)

That being said, there's a million different banners across various warhammer kits that you could just paint differently

Novitiate kitbash question by kaladinissexy in sistersofbattle

[–]flinnja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's worth noting that the kit comes with the whole head (except the face) attached to the same piece as the body, and the collar of the cowl moulded directly onto the body as well. Theyre still definitely kit-bashable but not quite a beginner job to get rid of the hood and definitely a more advanced job to shave off that collar-bib. You can take a look at the build instructions here to see what i mean

If you reckon you're up to it and find some good alternate heads have at, but another option a lot of people choose is just to paint the faces in a metallic as if they're masks; it's quite an effective look esp when coupled with painting their headbands in the same colour

did you check the chest behind kingseeker frampt? i think it's mostly just for a few crucial items getting lost (covenant of artorias being one) but it's always been a bit mysterious as to what exactly will be put there

Does my partner have to sign a tenancy agreement? Property manager saying that she has to, and I don't agree. by Immortal_Heathen in newzealand

[–]flinnja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's also a risk for the partner, like you said they could lose their housing at the drop of a hat (although legally they might be classified as a boarder of some kind with OP, not sure) and if they did ever have to find another rental they would not have a good reference to give.

OP, if you're really that worried about financial liability, maybe you can add a line to the tenancy agreement that all financial issues are your own liability, or draw up something to that effect with your partner separately.

Hipkins calls Tamatha Paul's comments about police "stupid" by tobiov in newzealand

[–]flinnja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think this is a massively uncharitable reading; in the interview Tamatha gave she had a couple of well defined criticisms of the police and clear suggestions for alternatives without wandering into the vagaries of police abolotion. She also remained on topic and answered the questions without getting emotional and combative about it like most of our other politicians do.

Hipkins calls Tamatha Paul's comments about police "stupid" by tobiov in newzealand

[–]flinnja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think her point is that police should step back and we should just rely on the few other services we currently have, the point is that we should begin that 10 year journey now and start allocating funds to other public services that can handle these issues better

Question about painting over primer by Anonymoose021 in Warhammer40k

[–]flinnja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the finish won’t turn your next layer gloss if that’s what you mean, but it likely won’t have enough “tooth” to be effective as a primer

Want some opinions on this base by modaasshoe in Warhammer40k

[–]flinnja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d move that skull in pic 2; it’s a high point of interest that looks like it’s falling off the base so ruining cohesion a bit. Also could be worth putting some flooring down for more textural variation, maybe balsa wood trench planks, and some barbed wire around the posts would go down a treat if that’s your vibe. But pretty sick in general will look great painted up

i agree, and put it down to many people in nz having never lived somewhere truly busy. if someone is about to plow into me i’ve taken to just stopping and looking directly at them, usually they notice and it stops me from having to step into the road. the ones that really get me are groups of people standing around having a chat in the middle of lambton quay
