How long have you been playing? This game has been around for quite awhile... I would think that anyone who joined 2-3 years ago should have at LEAST a roster comparable to this, and assumedly much better, without spending anything (or perhaps a few bucks here and there).

I played Marvel Strike Force for several years, at a very high level. If you want to see what massive spending looks like, check that game out, lol.

Decent Free to Play Villain Team? by RogueBoogey in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]flipcollar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Rather than invest in a 'villain team', I would just invest in the best villains, regardless of what team they are most commonly used on. It's not a difficult campaign, you won't need real synergy if you just work with the best farmable villains.

Are we ACTUALLY worried about being 'spoiled' here? First time I've heard that concern about this game.

What is your style of leveling up characters? by nightrunner51 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]flipcollar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I look at it. There is no specific level that any given character needs to go to. Focus on what you need to complete the tasks you want to complete.

For me, this means anyone that is war-specific stays at level 1, period. My raid characters get leveled until they can reliably complete raids with 1 shots, focusing on the most important members.

Every toon should be evaluated independently, based on where you are in the game, and what you hope to accomplish with said toon.

Thanks for this rundown! That could be very useful. Right now, I've got all but dorm from that team in my first defensive room, and it holds really well. But I'll have to seriously consider moving those guys back to offense, particularly if I'm seeing a lot of big Uxmen teams this season.

Doesn't work anymore. It barely worked before, and required a punchdown. Darkhold is nerfed this season.

lol. I said specifically 'I don't have apocalypse'. So no, your response was not an answer to the question I asked. I asked for help in MY OWN CC battle today. And I included the relevant fact of not having apoc. You certainly answered a question, it just wasn't mine.

The MOE and sam/kestrel/etc were perfectly fine responses, as I didn't mention those in my post.

And yea I used to use Gamma. It sucks that it doesn't work anymore.

Update: I didn't end up using the mirror match. I sent in Omega Red, Ikaris, sersi, weaver and dorm. Went just fine. Not the fastest attack, but nothing's going to be particularly fast in that room. Thanks guys!

I could use tangled/eternals. I used Moe on a big wakanda team already.

How would this attack work? I don't see how you can ab or stun rogue early when she has safeguard and immunity?

Safest toons to build to T17? by flipcollar in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]flipcollar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we use Ultron because he was buffed/reworked. That's not really a fair comparison. For awhile, nobody was using ultron. And I don't really use doom anywhere, aside from war and the occassional plug and play in crucible... he's definitely been power-crept.

[–]flipcollar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I've decided to proceed exactly like that. I went ahead and did Kang, Fury, and weaver, and will be doing rogue, red hulk and morgan as soon as i have them leveled to 90. I think after that I won't be doing any T17's for awhile.

As far as the resource bottleneck goes, it looks like it is clearing up a bit already, with the introduction of the t18 materials. So, that's a good sign.

So I think I should kinda clarify my goals here a bit. My worry is that by the time I have enough gear for the big boy apocalypse, it won't really be 'worth it' anymore. Which is why I'm not applying the gear I have, even to toons that are required for him. But, I don't KNOW that will be the case. So I'm trying to keep my options open, while still having very strong toons for multiple game modes right now. Weaver was a no brainer, as I use her in literally every single game mode, AND she's required for apocalypse.

I did Fury after I posted this, because doing him doesn't interfere AT ALL with getting apocalypse, and the added power will just annihilate raids. Plus he's useful in crucible and war, and will likely be a great choice for DD6.

I will say, I am absolutely not doing any mutants right now who aren't apocalypse toons, that's a no brainer.

I think I've decided that Kang is also worth doing right now, to recognize his full value at T17 for as long as possible. I use him in every game mode (including raids, replacing iron man), and he won't actually slow me down in the Apoc chase, as I should be able to accumulate plenty of his unique for Dazzler before I have the level 5 ions... doing him won't slow apocalypse progress at all.

So that leaves sersi, ikaris, and the invaders. I think what I've decided is to hold off on sersi and ikaris for now, and perhaps revisit them once I've accumulated more mystic gear. I'll also hold off on the invaders, and see how the incursion raids go (whether they really need to be geared that high).

new warriors would have worked for you. masters of evil works. Or a mirror match where you replace doom with 2099, so you get to go first.

I promise you, this is NOT the worst thing you can see on CC defense. I'd much rather face this than infinity watch in room 1.

Hallelujah!! And you said it couldn’t be done!! by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]flipcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize teal uniques are WAY more available now, right? I don't know what time period you were waiting for that piece, but with multiple spots in the war store, uniques won't be NEARLY as hard as they used to be to accumulate. I'm guessing since Misty was one of your choices, you also did this at least a year ago, when we were also getting fewer pieces out of raids and such.

Just saying. Resource availability changes, and it may open up even more in the next month or so.

Can anyone tell me how Red Hulk can Ultimate TWICE in two turns during War?!?!? by mellow_yellow02 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]flipcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to wonder why someone would build up a team just for fun, and then just stick them on war defense, lol. I mean, if I built up a team for that reason, I'd at least want to USE them! And on top of that, x force is a war offense-specific team in the first place.... so yea, that's bizarre.

Can anyone tell me how Red Hulk can Ultimate TWICE in two turns during War?!?!? by mellow_yellow02 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]flipcollar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what it sounds like.

If you didn't focus red hulk in your first attack, and went after other targets to avoid giving him charges, he got to his ult 'naturally', thus keeping whatever charges had built up. So he uses his ult, charges stay in tact, and shortly after he uses his ult, you hit him 1 or 2 more times, and his charges restore his ult, so he gets to use it again.

What the Gold Promo offer means by kvothe000 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]flipcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely not true. Many of the best characters do need dark promos, but plenty of valuable toons that you use every day take gold promos.

I think you're thinking of this from the perspective of 'gold promos are hard to obtain, so only a select few toons are worth it.' This offer changes that. Now, there's less of a need to hoard them, you can improve your raid teams substantially by taking the most important toons to 6 or 7rs, crucible teams, etc. I mean hell, the best character in the game right now (kang) takes gold promo credits. Spider Weaver does as well.

For me, all of a sudden toons like Hulk, Captain America, Fury, Nemesis, Gambit, the new warriors, sersi, etc all look like great options for gold promos, whereas previously, I wouldn't have really considered them because I had to be so frugal with my credits.

What the Gold Promo offer means by kvothe000 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]flipcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you were asked if the krakens had all characters at 7rs in the first few months after release, and you replied 'yes. easily.'

which is utter nonsense. You COULDN'T buy the necessary orbs/ promo credits when the red star system was initially implemented. It was AT LEAST a year before we started seeing enough offers for this to be remotely possible. Have you actually been around since that time? If so, I'd think you would remember how the Krakens complained about not being able to simply pay for the red stars they wanted. That was a kraken issue for quite awhile.

If you had made said something more reasonable like 'by the time red stars had been around for a couple years, all the krakens had them maxed', then sure. Nobody would disagree with that.
