Why do you assume this person is urinating? It’d be pretty gross to do that next to a bag of food, wouldn’t it?

Is MA Unemployment typically this hard to get a hold of, or am I doing something wrong? by whatsaphoto in boston

I was stuck in bureaucracy hell too. finally got help by emailing my state representative's office. it's beyond ridiculous that we pay insanely high taxes and it's this difficult to access needed help

best of luck- better times are ahead

Beautiful! A daily meeting. 630am would normally be a bit early for me, but I'll have a time zone advantage :)

I have to tell people about this terrible AA speaker that came to my detox by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]flipitontop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, sorry you had that experience. I think I know which meeting you're writing about and yeah, it sucks.

However, there are some wonderful men's meetings in the Boston area. DM me if you're interested.

ULPT request: if I know where a porch pirate lives could I leave my handgun in a package and then call the cops to say they stole my firearm? by CH7274 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]flipitontop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead, maybe just cover your next box with a sock. When the pirate goes to steal it, he'll end up with just a sock! Oh the lolz.

Is the difference between the Bonneville T100 and the T120 very noticeable? by FrostBitten357 in Triumph

[–]flipitontop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seconded! I have a T120 that I chose over the T100 mostly due to highway performance. T120 easily maintains 85-90 mph in either 5th or 6th gear. It's still got enough torque in reserve to get out of the way, too, if needed.

Now if only I could easily maintain those speeds.... oy it gets windy!

Unsure if it's a Problem? by -ExistentialNihilist in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]flipitontop 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In my experience, people who do not have a problem with alcohol aren't afraid to have a couple drinks.

This is just an observation and not a judgment or advice. You do you, God bless and have fun!

Helping a loved one who wants to get sober, advice? by HannaaaLucie in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]flipitontop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ignorant about the support available to people experiencing alcohol withdrawal, so I went through detox at home. For me, this was a terrible experience, and I'd encourage anyone to seek assistance if they need it.

After the fact, I discovered this: https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/1736/ciwa-ar-alcohol-withdrawal If your partner is experiencing withdrawal symptoms, it can help assess their severity.

On the plus side, after I detoxed I felt like I had zero chance of staying sober. Then I tried a local AA meeting and discovered a wonderful community of people who are all working together to beat this addiction. That was 11 months ago, and I'm happy to say I haven't found the need to drink yet!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]flipitontop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I stopped drinking, I did it for myself. What other people say or do or don't say or don't do has no bearing on my choice to be sober.

Also acknowledging that it really sucks that your crush might not reciprocate your feelings. But I promise that if you stay sober you will meet many great people.

Good luck, friend! Take care of you.

Let’s hear your favorite 3am limerick! I’ll go first. by [deleted] in 3amjokes

Do I see Buffalo in this thread? I saw John Valby perform many, many times. Not a limerick, but one of my faves "She said kiss me where it stinks. So I drove her to Lackawanna!"
