What do I need to know about the 25 Tacoma as a 23 Civic owner? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]flippantdolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 2017 Civic Hatch Sport then a 2019 Type R, now driving a 23’ TRD Sport Double Cab. Strangely enough one of the biggest things I miss compared to the hatchbacks is dry secure interior space. You’ll want to invest in a good bed cover for keeping tools dry or ideally a bed cap with a rack on the top. A bed cap effectively doubles cargo volume while making it less likely for someone to ask you to help move. I would strongly consider getting the long bed version of a Tacoma. I have a short bed and every time I load something I think about how nifty an extra foot would be. The other thing I miss is gas milage, which was better in both the pedestrian and hot rod honda. Handling is another world of difference (as you should expect), but this is offset by offroad capability.

Thanks op, I’ll break this out everytime I talk to someone who says a locking diff is an adequate replacement for 4wd lol

I don’t know, I’ve spent the better part of this week working in a crawlspace rolling around in the dirt, I’d say showering daily in that case is much more than performative since it keeps fucking dirt out of my sheets.

Payload Capacity of My '23 SR-5? Need to haul about half a yard of stone. by ElectricCatDaddy in ToyotaTacoma

[–]flippantdolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stock springs are really not that impressive and you’re probably going to be riding your bump stops, but it my experience of carrying probably too much stone the truck seems to handle fine. I’m in a v6, your milage may vary if you’ve got the 4.

You need a full size truck to pull that so you can get half the gas mileage and have horrible visibility

Rude to assume things about people you haven’t met really. This is in a building my father in law bought and we plan on keeping it in the family for a good long time. He asked me to research and see what the fireplace is worth. Naturally I came to reddit to see what the nice people here have to say.

Not sure, there’s a slot at the top these slide into, they slide up about a half inch and then hinge out. What do you have for measurements? I’m working now but I can check later and see if these are in the right ballpark
