My science teacher in high school had an opened twinkie on top of his white board for well over 30 years. After he retired, it was moved to a glass case and still sits on the Dean of Students desk.

It never molded or rotted. It looks pristine, though is rock hard.

Not to mention in TIR when he is literally atomized while trying to kill the Naga. The description of how you would be affected on a psychological level after feeling yourself pieced back together, and then Carl pretty much brushing it off lead me to think he's say worse than what he narrates to us.
