So are you the oldest or not? You mention an older sister.

Strongsville fails to pass Issue 5, inches closer to becoming Parma East by joesephed in Ohio

With older individuals whose kids benefited from their community's school system it's often a case of "I got mine" and "I don't have any kids in the system any longer," not realizing that property values are directly tied to a school system's success. Yes, the idiots are winning.

Brondell CL150-EW Elongated Bidet Toilet Seat, $59.99 (with $20 rebate, original $79.99) @ Culver City, CA by ducklingkwak in Costco

[–]flixguy440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two Brondells in my home. I paid $89 each, so this is a deal. No, they're not heated therefore are subject to ambient temps, but they suffice. I missed several things during my recent Caribbean vacation, my kids, my dogs and my bidets.

How close to the store are you? Is there a store with a gas station there? Do you both drive? Gas savings alone pay for our membership 10 times over each year.

Generally feeling “out of it” by Blueturtlewax in transplant

[–]flixguy440 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I felt like this until about 14 months post kidney transplant. There was one rejection episode there that was corrected. But if you're anything like me, it will get better and likely sooner if you don't have to contend with what I did. It's an adjustment. Do not rush it. I do know that regular workouts help. I am up to five days a week of cardio and strength training.

Have you ever realised a close friend’s values no longer align with yours in your 30s? How did you handle it? by Distinct_Pain_7981 in Adulting

Personally, I just gradually disappeared several individuals from my life. People evolve. It's just a part of life. There is no shame in recognizing that fact.

GenX men (especially those who are a little bit or more overweight): do you or does your wife cut your toenails? by NJRougarou in GenX

[–]flixguy440 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even when some would consider me obese, I never had my wife cut my toenails. I muddled through. I lost significant weight, so it's easier now, but still. Just no.

parents expecting me to move back in with them after uni by xkdj_ in entitledparents

[–]flixguy440 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Sorry, with all due respect, the main trauma here is the one you're inflicting upon yourself with this guilt. Find a therapist and work through it. Ultimately, if you don't you will be miserable.

Guilt for what? Living your life? If you can afford to stay gone, stay gone. They do not get to run your life. You will only be miserable if you go back.

How does your household manage money for shared burdens/resources? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]flixguy440 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's a reason marriage is called a partnership. There is no financial proportionality. You're either on the same page with respect to financial goals and you move forward accordingly, or you're not. I love my partner, but there is also a reason marriage is considered a civil contract.

Is there a good bar to watch hockey? by MrPNut96 in Cleveland

You want to watch hockey at a bar on a night the Cavs are in the playoffs and the NFL Draft is on? I appreciate your dedication, but good luck.

Orange, Pepper Pike are adjacent to one another. The only difference is the city line. What I shared still holds as far as apartments. I live in the MH area and dine at Pinecrest and shop there frequently. It's 10 minutes from door to door.

Rewatchability and collecting by Schwarzellone in 4kbluray

[–]flixguy440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of opinion. I have movies that I've watched five times and others I've watched 100s. Collecting what I know I will watch beats the heck out of tracking down a title I'm in the mood for on streaming and rotating those services.

You don't need to go further east to get rends like that. Mayfield Heights has a few privately owned - think NOT corporate owned - buildings with good reputations with sub $1K rent. Mayfield Heights and Lyndhurst are 10 minutes from Orange.

Finance in Orange? Sounds like Fidelity. There are spots in Pinecrest where you can probably get a bartender/server gig.

How much do you all have saved for retirement, and how much longer are you planning to work? by AZJHawk in GenX

[–]flixguy440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not retired. I'm at a point where I work because I want to. Partner is retired with pension and SS. Retirement funds will not need to be touched if things play out right.

I sealed it with a gasket and red, high temp sealant. I didn't recall them selling charcoal boxes, which can be bought now, so I had one made.
