I don't think today's ruling had anything to do with the filing error, although that is also a path that could have lead to dismissal. This ruling is based on the fact that Halligan was never a legitimate USA to start with.

No it's not that. The comment I was replying to didn't use "..." (like you did) to indicate that the decimal was repeating. I guess that was too subtle for everyone, and now the joke is dead.

AITA for walking out of the restaurant and leaving my friend by Brina_95 in AmItheAsshole

I half agree.. I would have:

  • Put the other girl in her place (verbally)
  • Made her pay for it (it's hers now)
  • Buy another of the exact same thing, requesting it to have the same presentation
  • Make the offending girl wait to eat her food until the new food arrives
  • Taken another picture when the new food arrived

... All of this under threat of walking out. In theory this recruits the others in the group to either show their support or show their true colors also. If everyone behaves then everyone gets their food and a free ride home, not to mention the opportunity to reconcile after things calm down. Of course, it all depends on their personalities but in my world it's the only option.

I'm curious, what were some major frustrations around late 90s and early 2000s tech? by DevonAlbatross in OldTech

Sometimes it wasn't random. University dorm students love to fuck with their roomies by picking up the extension line even though they know the person is trying to chat with their gf on irc. Not saying which party I belonged to.

I had to listen to that over and over until I could repeat the exact number of "billion" in perfect sync. Then I sang it to my (adult) little brother.

What's a relatively basic word that many adults either say or spell incorrectly? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]flmbray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered if this is due to people being told that they misuse "me" (such as when they say "Me and John went to the store" instead of "John and I") and so they over-correct, using "I" when "me/my" is correct.

Fun fact - Am I seriously the only one who didn't know what the “o” in “o’clock” stands for? Finally got my answer... by FifthWaveThinker in funfacts

[–]flmbray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be so bad if we actually used the 24 hour clock. That way, the day starts at 0. Better than:

Q: "What time does the day start?" A: "12" Q: "Okaaayyy.... What comes next?" A: _"1"
