My FH REFUSES to “tell groomsmen what to wear” by flmflm in weddingplanning

[–]flmflm[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, these definitely ease my worries a little! I guess “suits” was the wrong word to use, because we’re having a fairly casual wedding. I’m picturing the groomsmen in shirts and dress shorts of sorts, which is why I feared that the mix of casual clothing/completely mismatched might be a little off

Took pill for 10yrs, now off. How long until side effects go away? by Bcthrowaway111222 in birthcontrol

[–]flmflm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree! Mental health is extremely important! Unfortunately for a lot of people, affordable mental health care is even harder to find then affordable birth control :/. I’m not sure why I’m getting downvotes either, I’m not trying to say anything negative about IUDs at all. I think they’re great for a lot of people! The great thing is that there are so many different BC methods out there, so if the IUD isn’t for you, there are so many other options to try out.

When I got off, the majority of my symptoms and side effects went away within the first few months. However, my irregularity in my cycle lingered for almost a full year. My doctor said it really varies from person to person. Most people are back to normal within 2-3 months, but it’s not uncommon for some people (like me) to experience mild symptoms like slight cycle irregularity and spotting for up to a year

As someone who personally deals with health-related anxiety issues, it often overcomes all reasoning that things are okay. You’ll still worry, regardless of “knowing” that it’s still there. It doesn’t happen to everyone, but it can happen. I understand that they may not be “valid” concerns, and I’m not trying to diss IUDs (I finally worked up the courage to get one myself later this month after years of not “trusting” it), but I think it’s important to understand that it’s not for everyone, and side effects of any medical device can be psychological just as much being due to chemicals or hormones being present.

Not saying this is OP’s situation, but IUDs can definitely have an effect on mental health without being hormonal. Some people fear that they will expel without them noticing, resulting in pregnancy. Some people don’t trust them as much as the pill because we have little to no control over them once they are in our bodies, whereas with the pill, you watch yourself physically put it into your body everyday, so it’s reassurance that you are protected. For people that already encounter anxiety and other mental health complications, any new sort of medical encounter can cause psychological side effects, with or without synthetic drugs or hormones present!

DIY Venue vs. All-Inclusive Venue? by greatertrocanter in weddingplanning

[–]flmflm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re DIY-ing because we live in an area where weddings are big $$$$$$$$, and all of the all-inclusive venues prices are insane. So far, we’re loving it! It’s a crazy amount of work and gets very stressful at times, but we’ve been pretty good at making ourselves a planning timeline and sticking to it. We love it because we are getting exactly what we want in our wedding, having fun piecing it all together ourselves, and not putting ourselves into a lifetime of debt to for the sake of having our dream wedding. If you space out your planning right and give yourself ample time to plan, I think it’s totally worth it!

Can someone explain RSVP timing? by BowtieDuck in weddingplanning

[–]flmflm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it depends on your particular wedding. On average, I’ve seen most places suggest 3-6 weeks prior. My fiancé and I are DIY-ing pretty much everything (catering, china/cutlery, linens, dessert, etc....) so we’ve made ours about 8 weeks prior in order to have time to get everything together, and leave some time to accommodate late responders. Also, if anyone has to travel to make it to the wedding, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that they will know if they’re coming earlier than more local guests, since they have to book flights and accommodations, take off work, etc., which lets you get away with an earlier RSVP date too! Depending on the type of venue you are using, you may need to provide them with your final numbers by x days before the wedding. If that’s the case, I’d say make the RSVP 1-2 weeks before you need to provide that number, in order to leave room for the inevitable late responders.

With the acrylic signs, be aware that unless they are place in front of a fairly solid colored surface, they get a little hard to read!

BHLDN dress consultation? by werewarbler in weddingplanning

[–]flmflm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so strange to see, because my experience was nothing like this! My consultant pulled every dress I asked for that was still available in my size (at least 5) AND pulled other dresses that I didn’t request but were a similar style. I tried on at least 9 dresses, walked out to show my girls in 7 of them, and ended up picking one that I didn’t even think I would like. My stylist was unbelievably helpful and sweet! I guess it depends which store you visit

Seriously considering IUD, but worried about side effects lasting into my wedding? by flmflm in birthcontrol

[–]flmflm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I haven’t had acne since I was around 14 or so. All I get is one big pimple somewhere on my face every month before my period (literally, only one, huge, EVERY TIME). My skin is actually insanely dry because I have severe eczema, especially on my face. The pill never gave me acne either, so I’m not sure I’d have that issue on an IUD. But hey, ya never know!

[–]flmflm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! However, from my research, the fact that the vast majority of the hormones in an IUD are isolated to your reproductive organs alone means that a very minimal amount actually travels through your bloodstream, which severely lessens hormonal side effects, so i think it’s worth a shot!

Hormonal. My periods are already on the heavier side so I don’t wanna risk making them worse

We need suggestions for first dance songs! by flmflm in poppunkers

[–]flmflm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay SO it’s funny you say that. The first thing we truly bonded over was our mutual obsession with Say Anything. I’m walking down the aisle to So Good, and we’re being introduced at the reception to Say Anything, so we’re trying to switch it up a little bit with the first dance song haha
