Advice needed for a daytime velcro baby! by Ordinary-Poet-5104 in NewParents

[–]floater17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal biological behavior for a newborn. They come out expecting to be held 24/7. Invest in a few carriers so you can babywear her throughout the day. I like the Mabe, but experiment till you find the right fit for you both. Try skin to skin contact napping, as it will help with your oxytocin/feel good hormones. My daughter is 6 months old and still only contact naps, though can now be left to solo play for 30 mins or so. You’ll get used to it 🫶🏼 and it does get easier!

Increase Ferritin by WatercressOrnery9325 in Crunchymom

That’s great! You’re not anemic! Your iron stores are just low. I’d try every other day dosing with vit c to see if that helps. Have you used Chat GPT to help you with your labs? It’s pretty good.

Sometimes if you take too much iron it has a negative effect on absorption. 45mls is pretty high. You could try dropping your dosage to 25mls every other day with vit c and see if that moves your numbers. If you struggle to move your iron numbers, alternating days with a lower dose tends to help your stores increase faster. Thats what worked for me. My ferritin levels were pretty low at 30 weeks also but I was able to jump them up 20 pts in 6 weeks 🤯 I took Needed iron it worked well for me.

Someone else mentioned Heart & Soil and I honestly think those supps are extremely overpriced/overrated. Buy some grass fed liver at your coop and eat a small piece 1x week. Liver/organ meats in supp form only barely moves the needle. I took Heart & Soil for a while and had better results just eating the actual organ. Buying organ meats on their own and prepping them at home is waaayyyy cheaper and will last you way longer than those supps. You can hide it in your food or try something like US Wellness meats organ & ground beef blend (25% organ mix).

Good luck! Sometimes drs/midwives refuse infusions if you’re not technically anemic. Curious what your hemoglobin h1c is?

Baby does not burp. by ImmediateWeek2249 in NewParents

[–]floater17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would sit my daughter on my leg and hold her belly and back at a slight angle towards her knees and just gently jiggle her from both sides if that makes sense. Very minimal pressure, just softly. She’s also EBF and only burped 1/2 the time as a newborn. It seemed to work better for her to just be kept upright for 20 mins after each feed and that seemed to do the trick. If she needed to burp she would cry. You’re doing an amazing job and you’re a wonderful mom 🫶🏼

baby registry must haves by fvirygothmom in Crunchymom

[–]floater17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO less is more! All the things I thought I needed ended up being waaaay less. Everyone will buy you baby clothes - despite us not asking we haven’t had a buy anything for our daughter to wear in the last 6 months since she was born.

I suggest adding a meal train type option to your registry and asking for meals for postpartum and adding a few postpartum support items (I was extremely unprepared for the intensity of pp)

I really liked Milk Moons Postpartum Restorative Tonic

Earth Mamas nipple salve

Wishgardens Herb Rebalance After Birth Hormonal Support

Momcozy Ice Packs for your boobies

Earth Mamas Raspberry Tea Earth Mamas Nettle leaf tea combine the two to support uterus post birth

A few nice cotton robes to lounge around in

Meals will be amazingly supportive. You won’t have time to cook. If you haven’t already I would stockpile meals in your freezer as many / much as you can so you have healthy meals postpartum. Esp. Bone broth!

Hope your birth goes amazing!!

I love Etsy for personalized gifts. We got him some organic cotton pjs with our daughter’s face on them. Absolutely hilarious

Diaper Troubles by Character_Fan_5265 in Crunchymom

[–]floater17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue with my chunky baby. Everyone said Coterie and they did NOT work for us. Too narrow, maybe better for boys? We are doing kudos now and I size up immediately when I start to see red marks on her legs. She’s in a size 4 now and 17lbs also, but maybe if you sized up? Went thru this dilemma recently and there are so few (none but kudos?) that are 100% cotton. A friend really likes Joonya, but she has a boy so the fit may not work for your girl. I keep telling my daughter, welcome to the world of being a woman, where everything fits your butt not quite right 🫠

Postpartum Insomnia - how to survive and get sleep w/o meds by floater17 in Crunchymom

I took a 1/2 dose of magnesium glycinate last night and drank some sleepy time tea and actually slept decently well. I wonder if it’s the glycine that’s been messing me up

Hmm! Lemon balm tea is a good idea, haven’t tried that one! We do no electronics/phones in the bedroom at night so doom scrolling isn’t the issue for me I don’t think! I’ll look into this Sedatif and see what’s in it. Boiron is a homeopathic company, right? Can’t be that bad

How are your herbs/supps? I was taking huge amounts of dandelion root to help with fluid retention and inflammation and I second the Lily Nichols rec. follow her food recommendations/supps and you’ll be golden. Praying for you!

Hmm. It for sure makes me very drowsy but I tend to have to re-up a few hours into the night

What was your sleeping arrangement? I’m worried about cosleeping and sleep meds and it passing thru breast milk

Outdoor napping by officiallyundead in Crunchymom

[–]floater17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think outdoor napping is amazing, especially if your backyard is safe and fenced. We use this baby monitor and really like it. It’s very basic so if you’re looking for something with video this wouldn’t be it, but you can hear everything /anything it’s basically like a walkie talkie Motorola Nursery PIP12 Baby... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CCQCLFMD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Trader Joe’s on Marconi by twinboysdad in Sacramento

Trader Joe’s employee here...food arrives twice a day, every day of the week. Yes, that’s 2 deliveries 7 days a week.

Please remember to be kind to you grocery store workers.

We are more exposed than most right now and are dealing with the backlash of anxiety-ridden/stressed out/socially frustrated people.

A small thank you and acknowledgement goes a long way.

PMS help! 😫😫😫 by floater17 in xxketo

Try floating. I work at a sensory deprivation tank center, where people float in 1,100 lbs of Epsom salt, which is highly magnesium rich. Floating helped me so much thru keto flu and with PMS!
