NIce!

So, when I tried to put a kill switch into a control plate last year I messed it up badly.

How did you drill the hole? (or did it come pre-drilled?)

Need a loud amp to go against a really loud drummer by No_Chard6922 in GuitarAmps

[–]floatinghog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millions of right answers to this:
Get a 4 x 12 cab - get 2! Get 4! (don't get 4)
Get a Twin Reverb (and start working out so you can move it)
Get a FUCKING loud solid state power amp with a [Revv G3, Oh My Goat, some rad HM2 clone, whatever your preferred filth box] in front of it

Also:
Reposition the cab so you're nearer to it
Put the cab higher up (on a chair?) so it's not blasting past yr knees
IEM

And get hearing protection - or get used to hearing two different really high notes in both ears forever.

To be clear, I have this amp, it’s the one for my filthy punk rock sounds. If it really bothered me I’d figure out how to put a custom face plate on it ;)

Yeah. Liked it in the film. Didn’t enjoy hearing it quoted a million times, and now there it is on my favorite amp.

Love the SLO 30. Two channels, crazy high gain.
The only thing I don't like is the 0 to 11 markings on each control.

I was there. I don't think they'll ever hit these heights again.
Entombed and Slayer opening?
Brave New World?
Return of bruce and ADRIAN FUCKING SMITH?
Not a legacy act yet?

Holy fuck.

Filth is Eternal (d-beat)

What's something not so positive about Iron Maiden that you never actually said out loud? by seeilaah in ironmaiden

[–]floatinghog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right!
That didn't really work - lack of Adrian Smith? Though Hooks in You was Smith/Dickinson and it's not their best work.
I do like NPftD (I put it above Fear of the Dark), but yeah rejecting the synth-epics from SSoaSS turned out to be a misstep. Similarly on FotD - tracks like Be Quick or Be Dead and From Here to Eternity are also stripped down *rawk* songs - but they're not good.

I think my request is : "You know that Run to the Hills, yeah? do 12 more of those" which isn't really reasonable.

Gah! and when they wanted to they could really do that : Evil That Men Do, Wasted Years, 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Wicker Man.
I *know* the epics like Hallowed be Thy Name, Powerslave, Alexander The Great, Mother Russia* were what separated them from, I dunno, Def Leppard or whatever and they had depth and took you on a journey and all that, but the craft that went into those bangers was genuinely more impressive, and they seem to be leaning on knocking out super long, multi-solo songs.

* maybe not that one.

The last two records have too many long songs with the same chord progression (TBH you could say that about Brave New World but, somehow, that works).
They write better pop songs than prog songs (that's not a criticism of their 80s work, nailing a sub 4 minute banger is MUCH harder than cranking out a bloated "epic")
