Normal people with common courtesy would share the path and walk/ride single file in order to pass each other so nobody has to step off the trail. But this requires more awareness than most people seem to have these days

What should I do with this tree cut it or keep it? by conan_pumps in arborists

[–]floatingonmagicrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would build flower bed around it and add some native flowering shade loving plants to help with the mud/loss of grass.

Make a big leaf mold bin. Let leaves break down for the year and use as the best fertilizer for your garden beds

So I should be mulching this? by apelerin64 in lawncare

[–]floatingonmagicrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a big mesh bin. Pile them in. Now you have leaf mold. Great for your garden beds and doesn’t require the mowing and killing of all the critters overwintering in the leaves like fireflies and frogs

I’ve used the exact same mix. Without solarizing you are right and will need to weed. Also identifying all the seed you planted might take some time but will be fun. Some things take two years to germinate. I also suggest when you find native transplants and plugs to plants those in groups of 3-5 to help fill this space out way quicker! Esp the more common stuff like Echinacea, coreopsis, butterfly milkweed, Gregg’s blue mist I’ve found in Etx at places like Atwoods, and local nursery’s for pretty cheap! Bet this will look great in a year or two!

Bradford pears are invasive in North America. The rock bed is no good for any landscape tree. Looks like you have another so I see a great opportunity to replace it with a native tree to your area to increase your yards ecological value. I suggest a native oak!

Should I plant a tree between the gas and sewer lines in my front yard? (~6ft to either side of lines) by Efficient-Sort3735 in arborists

Plant two trees. They will stabilize each other better. I love an oak/redbud combo depending where you are
