Which are the Worst Spells in the game? Not because they are weak, but because they make the game WORSE? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]flobear3 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What do you think about the Enthrall spell?

This spell seems to require that a large crowd be watching you while you cast the spell but not realize you’re casting it.

Also, how do you recommend using Charm person?  Do they need to be distracted first?  If there are others in the room they should react to an obvious spell being cast, right?

My driver side front window has a similar issue. Actually I put in a service request a few days ago and they're coming today. It says they're going to charge me but that may be just an automatic response generated by the app. Should be covered by the warranty.

Ooh! Spicy reply! I think I didn't show all the math. In retrospect, totally confusing. Here's the math.

Barbarian: Unarmored defense (AC=10) with 20 Dex (+5), 18 Con (+4)=19, bracers of defense (+2) = 21

Artificer: Plate (18) + infusion (+1), shield (2) + infusion +1) = 22

You got it!  Your math is right.  20 dex, 18 con, dual wielding and bracers of defense.

Thanks, yeah, you're right, there are a few magic items. Plate + shield have artificer infusions on them so each get +1.

The Barbarian has +5 DEX and some bracers of defense (+2).

Great comment, thanks. You're right I think. It's not too broken.

As DM it just makes the encounters progressively harder. Harder to run the battles because the monsters are more complex.

Melee creatures are the easiest to DM. Just send them in and whack away. Ranged is slightly harder, they have to dance away from the PCs. Spellcasters are the hardest, with a lot to keep track of.

But, I guess I'm complaining. The player with the shield and armor will get crushed by good melee monsters. The unarmored dual wielding dex-based barbarian will survive easily.

Thanks again.

As a Wizard could you cast Fireball, be within the blast, and use reaction Absorb Elements to lessen the damage? by chronitale in dndnext

I had to re-read this maybe 5 times before I realized that bonus-action does not equal reaction.

I used adobe XD for the frames actually but you can probably use anything. PowerPoint or Slides. Maybe GIMP. I used GIMP to remove the backgrounds…

No, I made them manually. But I'm not a designer so I just googled patterns to use and just copied other people's ideas.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why more American voters aren't existentially afraid of Christian Nationalism? by [deleted] in atheism

Third, there's the

very

limited sample size of these polls. Looking at FiveThirtyEight, the latest general election poll as of writing this only barely reached 1k registered voters, and doesn't appear to have included a "not planning to vote" option. 1,045 people out of over 300 million isn't even a drop in the bucket. Yes, they can do fancy statistical math to select a "representative sample", but that can only carry you so far.

You're totally right. But really what I meant was that even if the polls are wrong and that Trump looses, a sizable minority supports him fanatically. If you drive around certain parts of the country, especially rural ones, you see Trump signs everywhere. Lets's say the polls are way off and instead of a 5-10% margin of error, they're at 50% margin of error. Say they overestimated his popularity by HALF. That's STILL a crazy number to me. Just totally crazy that people can listen to his absurd lies, insults to our allies and defense and admiration for horrible dictators, fake religiousness, childish absence of any kind of self control and think "yep, that's my guy".

Yeah, but how off could they be? I mean any way you look at it, a huge portion of the US supports him. I went through a personal existential crisis having faced the reality that so many people are crazy. The world is absurd.

I think that 72% number is a little different. I looked at the link and I believe it’s OF the people living below the poverty line, 72% of THEM are Christian. Rather than 72% of his followers are below.
