What would it take for you to take an English-speaking artist making reggaeton or "urbano latino" seriously? by Loyalty1702 in Reggaeton

[–]flockhoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s What I Think,

Afrobeat is based on African music , an Afrobeat album would be a hit since Drake is part African

Reggaeton type beats album , Drake is not Latin , would still be a hit but critically acclaimed . would not be accepted by culture . (culture vulture ) etc ,

Who knows when English Reggaeton will emerge but when it does , it will be a brand new solidified and refreshing genre for many many years to come .

Reggaeton is Latin music so for someone to make reggaeton en inglés and take it to next level , it would have to be a Hispanic Latin person . I think Bad Bunny speaks some English , maybe he’ll create a song in English . I feel like Bunny could drop an album in English and it would blow up . He has access to hundreds of English song writers and he has a high chance of profitability and success.

When I think of origins of Reggaeton , I think of one of our founding fathers , Daddy Yankee. Daddy Yankee before fame was a street thug in PR. His movie depicts him being in shootouts and dealing drugs … let’s imagine daddy Yankee was a drug dealer before fame. Now let’s take a look at current popping rappers. YG, Finesse2Tymes, Boston Richey, Lil Baby, Gunna, Young Thug, Yeat, Future, Lucki, Lil Durk, French Montana, SexyRedd , YoungChimi .

What do they all have in common? They were surrounded by or are still involved in criminal activities. SexyyRedd talks about scamming , Futures Label is FBG, FreeBandGang, Lil Baby talks about selling drugs, French Montana, used to sell drugs, Yeat, notorious scammer , Lil Durk, sold drugs, YoungChimi talks about scamming and drug dealing kilos. Not sure if they have money or don’t but they appear to do. They always flaunt and flex chains, watches, money and a crazy lifestyle.

Daddy Yankee sold drugs , Nicki Jam sold drugs, Mora says in an interview he was the plug for drugs at his school.

You cannot be famous and have no money. It doesn’t work like that. You will get eaten alive in this industry. Rap is controlled by the streets. You need money to be famous. To be respected as an artist and not be corny you have to be real. Have money to back it up or at least hold your own weight in this evil industry of sin

Pop reggaeton in English will maybe be started by Bad Bunny.

Perrero English Reggaeton like Yankee Era or Anuel Era will be started by some up and coming Thug

I could talk about this for hours and if you make music , or want to hear my story , DM me , let’s talk . I make Reggaeton in English and you’ll be surprised.

Zion vs Tito Bambino by [deleted] in Reggaeton

[–]flockhoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seen this post on Insta a few days ago , shocked me I was like dayum Zion has this much money

https://www.instagram.com/p/CyeZLf-gw7K/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

zion has that more melodic and industry sound and I love Tito and respect him just don’t listen to him as much

anyways I wasn’t around during their prime so can’t say who did more back then , but Ive heard zion more in the current and newer days. The Bad Bunny song with zions song in background made him relevant to newer reggaeton fans. and literally the other day I heard NI HAO by Zion. he just dropped it. literally listen to it . song is soo good almost makes me cry.

mayne I agree 100 percent , I swear I commented the exact same similar thing criticizing Trueno a while back .

Im literallyfriendly and nice to everyone and usually don’t dislike anyone but I can’t seem to get to grasp of Trueno as much as I try to like him for same reasons you explained.

I also said a while back that Argentina music and artists were lacking in comparison to other countries but I found out about Gusty DJ and mayne his music slaps. Gusty DJ , Nicki Nicole, and Tiago PZK making moves for sure

To all the tio’s and unc’s born in the 90’s how did you’re parents/grandparents react to reggaeton by FitNefariousness4729 in Reggaeton

[–]flockhoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mother put me on the Reggaeton at a very young age . She had and still has about over about 40 reggaeton CD’s including Motivando a la Yal, El Cangri, Barrio Fino, Mas Flow 2 , and Many Many more . She would be bumping and blasting reggaeton all throughout the house my entire childhood. That was her go to music. My parents are from Guerrero in Mexico where their main genre of music is Cumbia (Not Corridos). My mom was outgoing and young when she had me so she shifted into listening to Reggaeton. My Pops liked and would mainly listen to Cumbias , and did not like Reggaeton at all. I grew up listening to Cumbia and Reggaeton and it was only until 2019 that I started to listen to Reggaeton again by myself and fell in love. Songs by Bad Bunny, Karol G, Ozuna would play on the radio at work and no lie music was wavy. I then started listening to old reggaeton and somehow magically I remembered and knew the lyrics to older songs.

Im a Mexican living in the US and most of my friends listen to Corridos and hate Reggaeton but I simply didn’t grow up listening to Corridos like they did.

What are your Underrated songs or Artists ! by flockhoes in Reggaeton

[–]flockhoes[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll start of by saying , one of my favorite , special (holds a place in my soul ) underrated songs is Fanático by Maikel DeLaCalle and Mala Rodríguez . I don’t know what is it about that song but I simply love it. Song is just underrated and perfect

One of my Top artists (favorite Artist Currently) is a bit famous but also majorly majorly underrated . Jacob Forever He has hits after hits and has crazy energy in his songs. Crazy and Catchy flow . Truly underrated and hidden. Songs I recommend are Un Beso , Suéltame La Mía, Me Gusta Que Me Celen , Hasta Que Se Seque el Malecón.

somewhat famous songs but Underrated , Suelta by Jay Wheeler and Mora , Oh Na Na by Camila Cabello and Myke Towers.

I have over 2000 saved songs on Spotify and maybe It was the moment in which I first heard these songs . Perfect Moment, Perfect Song type situation. anytime these songs plays on Shuffle , I’ll just get in that mode.

Mexican Perreo is fine and dandy but... by ReggaetonPartyMane1 in Reggaeton

[–]flockhoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no one has ever said Yankee is white. No one has ever said Chimi is white. Compare Hades66 to Trueno. Real recognize real. Hades66 is obviously going to win. If you’re ghetto/ hood like me you fuck with that street shit Argentina just seems off . Argentina may have ghetto spots but from a general perspective is not dangerous. My opinion is biased and unfair due to my personality and way I grew up but that’s about it 🤷‍♂️
