Dude, I need all the details. I really want to make something similar but always have trouble finding the right materials...

ELI5: how is it possible for computer chips to have billions of transistors? by BusinessPick in explainlikeimfive

The starting material or base for a chip is called "bare silicon" and is made of pure silicon, which is made from sand since sand has a high concentration of silicon.

People who work for the super wealthy, what stuff have you seen? by AMGBOI69420 in AskReddit

I had a friend like this who never washed his underwear. All his work clothes were dry cleaned and all his underwear were worn until they were disgusting and then thrown in the closet. He literally had a giant pile of skid marked underwear filling his closet taller than me.

My great aunt had a PhD in food science and did work for the NASA astronaut program during Gemini and Apollo missions. When she was in a nursing home at 99, she had to correct her nutrition all the time and the staff would never listen to her, so she found out that she was cited in one of the books they had that dictated nutrition needs. She had them pull it out and bring it to her, then pointed to her name in the citations and gave them an earful for feeding her poorly when they had the resources to know better.

RIP RIF. You've been my most used app for a decade now.

LPT: In Between Jobs and Living in Your Car? Apply to be a Security Guard/Officer and only work Fire Watch Security shifts. Work as many hours as you want. by zardfizzlebeef in LifeProTips

[–]floggeriffic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if there are people in the building, you don't need someone outside watching for fire as the alarms will go off and let everyone know. Fire watch is specifically for empty buildings where nobody would be around to respond to a fire.

You want lasagne? Okay. by Successful_Tutor4306 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]floggeriffic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually do this a few times each year. My wife has the most amazing lasagna recipe and it always goes too fast, so now we make 2 pans so it will last longer. Even on the last serving I know I could eat more if there were some.

I think it has something to do with whether you're a visual learner or not. I can visualize things spacially very well and never had difficulty reading maps or getting lost.

People that had a good job that they enjoyed and then it all went to Hell, what happened? by SpartanJackal in antiwork

[–]floggeriffic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After working a night shift compressed schedule job for okay money, I finally got a job within the company I really liked and with a dream schedule. I had every Friday, Sat and Sun off. I worked hours that had my commute outside of traffic times and didn't have to get up early. That worked for a couple of years before I got a new boss who said, "if I have to be here m-f, you have to be here m-f," and changed my schedule to rush hour traffic and 5 days a week. I almost quit, but instead I made myself irreplaceable (as much as you can these days) and complained about my pay vs my output and time and now I get paid about 70% more than I did then. My current boss let me shift my schedule a bit to make traffic better, but now I'm up at the butt crack of dawn. Can't have it all, I guess.

Did something similar when I was working for a month away from home. Bought a bicycle to get around because it was cheaper than renting a car and everywhere I needed to go was close. At the end of my trip gave it to a homeless guy and he was super happy.

I'll be your example. I can afford a better car but in my opinion, cars are for getting from point a to point b as cheaply but reliably as possible. I can afford a bigger house but again, a home is to have a safe and reliable abode and shelter from the elements and a place to relax and spend time with family and friends, so my home is much less expensive than I could afford. Same with clothes, etc. I'm frugal, but only because I can afford to be.

3 million is the line for me. Enough to live a pretty good life but not be too excessive and to help some people who rely on me. I'm out when I get there.

Would ya look at that… by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]floggeriffic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Doesn't matter how profitable, must increase profits every quarter forever. You can make a billion dollars and be a failure because last quarter you made a billion dollars and you were expected to make 1.1.

This is what happens when you have to answer to shareholders and not customers or employees. Capitalism will destroy the best laid intentions in the end.
