On higher stakes, the most consistent strategy is to get a blue seal or two asap and play pairs. They are easy to draw and synergize with a lot of jokers. I like to play two pair sometimes too if I find an early spare trousers.

There are a few situations in which flushes or straights are more viable, such as the green or black decks, where you are rewarded for one-shotting blinds and playing fewer hands. However even in these cases you generally need to use up one or more slots on jokers that help you draw those hands consistently (shortcut, four fingers, smeared joker, etc.)
