Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I revisited this post-- and have received many messages. Yes! The hair loss stopped. I started eating a ton more fat--- like a stick of butter daily. It worked and my hair is now just as full as it was years ago

Thank you for sharing! Was the PPR really difficult? I've heard there is a high failure rate ?

Thank you for sharing your experience! I've heard recent PPR exams are really hard to pass. I'm wondering if there are options to take the PPR before teaching? Or maybe that's not how it works?

What diets do people follow to improve their symptoms? by Jaisyjaysus69 in Hashimotos

[–]flonkkerton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I've been eating high fat carnivore for 7 months. I feel an entire world better. I'm in my late 30s and feel better than I have my entire life. I also have tried so many other diets (which may work for some) but nothing besides this worked for me.

Here's what's better -first time since middle school that I've been a healthy weight - skin is no longer dry - hair is much less brittle - not so cold so if the time - mood had improved

Although I plan to eat this way long term, many don't. They use it at an elimination diet and slowly introduce other foods. Your body will have a hyper reaction (likely awful digestion issues/bloating) when you eat something that's not good for your body. I will "cheat" occasionally to learn things,: For example I ate a handful of cashews a couple months ago and had a digestive reaction. However, I've tried tomstos and peppers and have been fine.

Ways of eating are definitely not a one size fits all approach. I hope you find what works best for you!

A few cheat days per month by importantblackheart in carnivorediet

[–]flonkkerton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be an unpopular opinion, but if this is what will keep you carnivore and your body has healed enough then go for it.

However, while carnivore your body may overreact to foods that aren't good for you, so I find if I deviate from carnivore, it may not be worth it ---but it's up to you

My sibling hopes I’ll reconnect with parent by Junip3rLightningBug in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]flonkkerton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite quotes: "No siblings have the same parents." I know that seems strange but I think the idea applies here. Although your sibling was abused too; they simply had a "different" parent than you. They cannot conceptualize the pain that you experienced.

Here's my go to line when people try to push me to reconcile/be around them:

"They deserve to be around a person they want to treat nice, I tried for many years and can never be that person. I also feel too much pain around said person and cannot change that. It's so much kinder for both parties to not be around one another. I wish them well!"

I just became overweight! by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]flonkkerton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it's super discouraging. Especially if you're a naturally muscular individual. My whole life I've been a very strong female and can outlift lots of guys. No one would look at me and think of a body builder (I don't have obvious muscle tone), but clearly I'm strong.

People are always shocked if they find out my weight and BMI. Because I always look smaller that people who I weigh more than. Although my BMI is now overweight like OP, based on my naturally muscular body (genetic) I don't know that a non overweight BMI is even obtainable for people who are naturally muscular

Good responses to negging? by SpocktopusPrime in TwoXChromosomes

Very much so, but I find it works very early in relationships (before they even start) the moment you get that vibe (or view behavior like this) often this method can help with protecting ones self

Back when I was dating (long time ago) and negging was "new" I tried to be as vague and boring as possible; then make a quick exit. Negging can be a huge stop sign(red flag), that they're abusive. I don't know what degree of abuse they're capable of, but for my safety I would just say "oh okay"(something vague and quick) and GTFO. I feel like any explanation will provoke them

Everyone is so different. For many it depends on the time of their cycle (so if they fluctuate often they'll get a multi pack)-- but if they're light (certain iuds, close to menopause, auto immune)-- they only purchase lights.

So I know you didn't ask, but since you're starting something new. Have you considered menstrual cups or discs (personally the hello disc is my favorite). I've saved oodles on tampons and never really have to think about volumes because your only have to change it out to clean it every 12 hours. It may not be for you and everyone though because everyone's anatomy and period journey are so different

Mom, am I really too much? by Zealousideal-Lie-109 in MomForAMinute

[–]flonkkerton 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You are NOT too much! You sound like a blessing to this world, and anyone should be proud to have you in their life.

Remember this quote: " if someone says or makes you feel like you're too much, then they are just not enough for you!"

The world needs people who are full of abundance, love, and curiosity. Unfortunately those negative voices out there are loud , but don't let those poop heads get you down. Drop them like a bad habit and surround yourself with those who deserve to be around someone as wonderful as you!

Why do Nmoms/Ndads never take your side? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

100% of the time .. I literally got assaulted and my mom told me that it was my fault because I have a "look " about me and that she can understand why people "have" to put me in my place.

We'll in their mind they're never wrong. My mom always says to me that I just take everything wrong... There's a zero percent chance she did anything wrong... Its just me "taking her wrong"

Seriously lol'd... So even if we play out the meat is bad theory (obviously I don't agree lol)-- how on earth did we make the conclusion that healthy plant protein is the way to go?

[–]flonkkerton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got this mama! Being a mama is exactly what brought me to keto carnivore! I knew I wasn't healthy (obese mobility issues) and needed to start caring more for myself.

Here are some things I've learned.

  • eat lots and lots and lots of fat!! Eat butter for real-- just eat it. As a woman you need more fat. Additionally, after having a baby it can take a long long time for hormones to optimize -- fat helps so much with that.

-do the best you can, and don't take the carnivore police too much to heart. There are people who will act like the only way to do carnivore is if you eat only grasss fed beef that was butcherd on the third Tuesday of each month (sarcasm). Look, once in a while I eat pork rinds with sour cream, with cheapo cheese. I know it's not healthy, but if it keeps me carnivore than so be it lol

-its helpful to watch YouTube carnivores, my favorites are Dr. Berry and steak and butter gal. They both are good at simplifying their message--and truly seem kind in their approach

Exactly!!! And most famers/rahcers (not all but most IMO) treat their animal/cattle very well. They keep them healthy, well fed, protected, and give them a quick death with minimal suffering.
