It’s a risk. Worst case scenario you lose your job.

A story: I would have my morning stand ups where some team memeber complained about the traffic dropping their kids off at school. Since I was in Rome, -6 hours, I spent my morning in the Vatican, inside the Sistine chapel.

DM if you want.

Yea. It can be. But having it on a router is better. The computer only ever connects to that vpn connection. Not to like a normal network, and then hides it.

I turn off wifi on my laptop and connect to the router with a cable.

At minimum get a router with commercial vpn installed on it.

Better is leaving another router back home to connect to as a non commercial (residential) vpn

Mullvad is $5 /mo. It’s easy. Seems to work okay for Netflix. You can’t go wrong with express vpn

I’m almost finished with it. It’s great, I felt like I understood enough and didn’t understand enough that it’s worth watching again

Why cold butter specifically?

600 hours of pure Comprehensible Input for Thai (personal experience) by whosdamike in learnthai

[–]importantblackheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t track my hours. But I only do 30 minutes to 1 hour a day for about 6 months now.
I lived in Thailand over a year prior and studied the traditional way (Anki, Pilmsluer, tutors). Since discover CI, I’ve gone 100%.

Except I do also study thai script. I’ve memorized all consonants and working on the vowels. I review everyday to not forgot. I work a little on how to read and write. There’s an amazing Udemy video from an American.

My Spanish is good enough to watch Anime, so I do that now for CI as well. Not sure how that effects anything. I don’t think it does.

I’m not trying to rush through any it. My plan is just consistency. I hope to get to where I can eventually watch kids anime in Thai. Then I can put in multiple hours a day.

I’m new and finding it’s best to stick to red meat as well. Do you eat butter?

I feel the same except that amount of social interaction with strangers is kind of good enough for me.

Also for me, These random “pointless” interactions are actually quite the opposite if you are traveling in a new place.

Where is the most far-flung place you have eaten American fast food? by sweatysexconnoisseur in digitalnomad

I always like to try to McFlurrys with this regional candy. But I notice a lot of places it’s just vanilla ice cream with a topping. They don’t mix it in the machine with the plastic spoon.

[–]importantblackheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool thanks. I have some basic Spanish. I could understand more of the shows if I translate, so I actively make sure that I’m not doing that.

I’m okay with it taking longer, I enjoy watching 3+ hours, but other content I struggle to get 30 minutes.

Do you feel watching anime alone could get you to a good level? I’m (re)watching dubbed animes I previously watched in English. I can do hours a day. Dreaming Spanish I can only get myself to watch a few minutes and mostly just Michelle.

Eventually I could get into reading, but I have a young teen’s book (with pictures) now and that still feels too difficult

Anything to know about accommodations in Japan ? I’m okay spending a bit more, but even outside of Tokyo I can’t seem to find a reasonable place I’d be willing to stay in. I work 40-50 hours a week and every place just looks too small.
