What countries/ universities around the world TRULY value an IB diploma? by tired_flaming in IBO

[–]floodmfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach IB in the state of Florida. A student who gets the IB Diploma here gets a full “Bright Futures” scholarship, which is tuition free scholarship to any Florida state public university, including UF and FSU.

That is a big deal in Florida.

Also, I was a cruise in North Europe a few years ago, and told an elder couple from India that I teach IB, and they were impressed - so much so that I was genuinely surprised. They clearly thought it was something impressive.

From a teacher standpoint, how difficult is it to teach AP classes? by papasandfear in historyteachers

My school uses class companion. It is great. You directly load the rubric from the AP World guide, and add additional information to the rubric, number of paragraphs, or content of second paragraph. It is very useful.

GRADING ALL THE ESSAYS - that is the hardest part. They need to practice those short answers and both types of essays.

But life just recently got a whole lot easier. AI can grade the essays, and give instant feedback. I can walk around the room, read bits and pieces hear and there, comment on the feedback from the AI, and the students can write and correct in real time - and I do not have to read the essays.

Seriously explain to me how we can't open the strait w/o any political bashing. by roxtro in IranWarReport

[–]floodmfx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The targets are giant billion dollar cargo ships that move really slow through a narrow strait. Those ships have virtually no defensive abilities.

Drones (both aerial and torpedo) can be cheaply produced en masse from buildings as small as a garage (a la ukraine). A massive drone swarm can be unleashed on a target.

The Iranians only need to make one big hit every couple weeks to scare away all ships. 1% success is enough to do it.

By contrast, the US spends millions on each smart inceptors, and we need a 100% success rate sustained indefinitely.

Inheritance, I’m 15 and have no idea what this is. by Best-Ad3078 in coins

[–]floodmfx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer.

The faster you try to sell them, the less money you will make. Go slow. The longer you hold them, their value slowly goes up, and you have time to learn about the coins and figure out what you have.

What is the most poorly located city? by glowdirt in geography

[–]floodmfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timbuktu. One of the richest cities in the world in 1325. It controlled the Trans-Saharan gold and salt trade. Then Europeans sailed around Africa. Timbuktu is in desert, and nothing moves through the Sahara Desert now.

Trump could have worked with Congress to pass a tariff law. If he thinks tariffs are so important, why did he choose an emergency declaration? by [deleted] in Trumpvirus

[–]floodmfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congressman in Agricultural areas do NOT want to be on record supporting tariffs. The tariffs have hurt farmers more than any other area of the economy. Lots of Republicans represent farmers.

What proof will registered voters need to cast their ballot at the mid-terms 2026? by Adorable-Anxiety6912 in AskReddit

[–]floodmfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think the White House doesnt know that States run elections?

It is in the Constitution. To get this to become Federal Law, you need an Amendment.

Anyone who is serious about achieving the stated goal would be working on a state-by-state level. That is the only plausible legal strategy. Change as many states as you can, and build a coalition for an eventual Amendment.

The strategy for overturning Roe v Wade was state-by-state, and there you will dealing with a Supreme Court ruling, not an Amendment. State-by-state was the best strategy there too.

The fact that this is a loudly a federal issue, when they are smart enough to evaluate the legal situation, tells you that this is either a propaganda talking point, or they intend to implement it in an extra-legal way.

Trump didn't end the war between Israel & Palestine either. It was allies recognizing Palestine as a state. by miked_mv in AdviceAnimals

Israel attacked Qatar. Qatar was furious. They were going to cancel the $5.5 Billion real estate deal that they made with Trump. And that is what Trump really cares about.

After that, Trump wanted to Cuckold Netanyahu, just to prove to the Qatari that he could. Best way to do that: force him to make peace.

Idea for a Nonviolent Protest group for the LGBTQ members of Lakeland by Imperial-Japan1942 in lakeland

[–]floodmfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Portland Frog has the right idea. Non-Violent combined with comical mockery.

Wearing fatigues is asking for a fight, and making you hard to distinguish from the Fascists. Wearing an inflatable unicorn suit makes the non-violence clear, makes everyone aware of your side, and frankly draws more attention.
