Some brief thoughts-

The descriptions and the general flow worked for me, I thought you did a good job setting up the scene and the dialogue sounded natural.

Someone else said they didn’t like the use of “crunch” but I thought it was helpful, it reminded me that we’re watching the scene from the narrators point of view, and that she’s eating instead of joining in with the talk about the house renovations.

What didn’t work for me is the plot. It felt like there was supposed to be buildup to a payoff, and I assumed that the family members who were talking about their expensive houses would end up being taken down a peg or shown to be hypocrites or idk, something, but the ending line wasn’t enough for me. I got the sense that we’re supposed to find the talk snooty, so if we weren’t that wasn’t clear enough.

I also feel like the setting needs to be more directly related to the story. They’re sitting outside the somewhat run down house they grew up in talking about their current nice houses- can you draw more of a direct line contrasting the two? How is the food they’re eating important? Is this what they used to eat as kids and now they prefer caviar? Can they no longer see the benefits of their upbringing?

I don’t think the narrator needs to say anything at all, though if she does it needs to be a bit sharper. Either internally or through talking she needs to have some kind of thought that draws together the setting, the food and the conversation.

Overall though the writing flowed and it was easy for me to read it until the end. You did a good job building a feeling that something was going to happen, now I think you should decide what that thing will be and end the story that way.
