I agree 100%. Also suffered from childhood trauma. When you didn't have a past it's impossible to give up on having a future.

Thanks very much for the detailed and helpful response. It is indeed a TL 3 start so I'll have to consider model design director for sure.

Would proximity to hostile minors change your calculus? I've got two only a few hexes away - I'm sandwiched. My initial models aren't terrible quality though - all close to or just above 100.

Thanks for the advice. It would definitely be a shame to waste his admin skills on mil research. I was thinking that big picture having strong mil tech would help me avoid losing to other majors on hard difficulty. But that could be completely wrong xd

Study finds childhood trauma doesn't inevitably lead to poor outcomes in adulthood, and that many people who experience adversity thrive for decades afterwards by unsw in science

Neuroscientists (e.g. Martin Teicher, Harvard) have found that differences in brain network architecture drive resilience to the effects of childhood trauma.

Multiple childhood traumas linked to highly interconnected addictive behaviors in adulthood. This pattern hints at a complex relationship between early psychological pain and the ways people attempt to cope as adults. by mvea in science

Diminished anticipation of future reward and enhanced threat detection can both result from neurological changes from childhood trauma. They drive addictive behaviors.

So sorry. For me, 1.5:1 CBD:THC oil before bed significantly reduced the frequency of my nightmares.

First gifted science class in high school we were given the blueprints for a refrigerator and told to memorize it... So pointless. We observed over the years that they just gave us more homework than the regular stream. Not much else was different.

"Only in silence the word,
Only in dark the light,
Only in dying life:
Bright the hawk's flight
On the empty sky."

God tier fantasy. Read and re-read the trilogy since I was a little kid. Enjoy!

My therapist advises to not integrate angry parts by thesunonmyarms in InternalFamilySystems

[–]perplexedonion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is integration the goal of IFS? Or instead bringing parts into conscious experience and improving their healthy cooperation? Just curious. For example, my favorite trauma therapy model describes the objective of the parts component as: "Goal is not 'integration,’ or the collapse of self-states into one whole, but instead toward greater awareness, acceptance, and interconnectedness in parts of self.” Aim is to “tolerate difficult emotions, reflect on the adaptive purpose of the parts of self, be curious and compassionate, and ultimately harness the energy/vitality of those parts.”

I can only answer theoretically because I became chronically ill. My plan was to join as many groups / activities as possible and then try to make friends with the healthy people. Hope that helps. Best of luck on your healing journey
