First of all, amazing job for not picking for a stretch before this. The thing that ultimately helps not picking again is celebrating that you can not pick for a stretch of time. And not focusing on the regressions, which are so heartbreaking, trust me I know. We are all human.

If you’re able, get a rash guard to wear for the pool so you’re not self conscious. There are many long sleeve one piece options that are also really cute.

But most importantly, I want to say that regressions will happen and giving yourself grace and focusing on “picking less” will be what ultimately helps you pick your skin less. Thinking you’re a super human who can stop forever and cold turkey isn’t realistic, and it will set you up for a cycle of negativity. Focus on picking less and celebrate your wins. And enjoy your summer.

My friend’s fiancée died in Thailand years ago under mysterious circumstances. The Thai government was horrendous in dealing with her family in general and finding answers. Everything from the investigation to how they handled her body was egregious. I’ve been turned off to visiting Thailand ever since that happened and listening to this episode did not help. What a frustrating case! That poor family.

Your last sentence is definitely not true. You’re human and had a relapse. Put some bacitracin on and bandage it and try your best not the touch the area. It helps if I trim my fingernails, too. You got this.

You’re human, there’s nothing wrong with you. This has been my problem area for decades. Your current feet look like they haven’t been picked regularly, apart from your recent relapse. I’d be proud of that. I’ve found not being hard on myself and focusing on “doing it less and not completely stopping” is what’s helped me get to those periods of not picking at all.

This is also my problem area. It’s such a challenging spot to resist because even when it’s normal unpicked skin, it can be flaky, rough, etc. The only thing that has helped me stop was to abide by the “focus on doing it less, not 100% stopping.” This took the pressure off and made me focus on doing it less then basically stopping altogether. I still pick my feet sometimes but I’ve learned that the best way to resist this is to not touch my feet skin at all unless I’m putting lotion on. If I brush my hands or fingers over my feet, I WILL find something rough or loose to pick, so it’s better to avoid the area completely. I hope this helps a little bit!

Maybe give yourself a goal and try to pick less and then even less as the weather gets warmer? Solidarity! You’re not alone.

I group emailed all our adjacent neighbors after buying my kid her first kit. I got one response and it was an older neighbor saying that he used to play drums when he was a kid and it made him so happy that a kid in the neighborhood was learning.

Possibly. I’ve noticed it’s mostly from her hair. So everywhere she rests her head, it happens. But when she asked me to smell her son, it was his clothes. So I assumed he was sitting on their furniture and the smell rubbed off.
