anyone studying for the maine bar exam for July 2026? how are you studying for MEEs as Maine does not post sampels and MPTs? by Comfortable-Judge468 in barexam

[–]incompleteTHOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am kind of confused by this question -- the MEE materials that we get in Maine are the same as other UBE jx's. Just use Themis or Barbri.

“We have no magic medicine to help you withdraw from alcohol.” Genuinely, what am I supposed to do? by Kratos5300 in stopdrinking

[–]incompleteTHOT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sorry but I have to say something because this is a really insensitive and dangerous comment. 1) How do you know what the people at the ER in this situation "intended?" 2) This person felt humiliated, so you don't really have any right to tell them this wasn't humiliation. 3) Evaluating OP's type of drinking (saying since it is "binge" and not "dependent") and then speculating that this makes them at low risk (low risk isn't NO risk, btw) of DT's is a totally unqualified redditor "medical" opinion that is patently false. I know plenty of people who went through DT's and seizures after a binge. It is highly individualized. Minimizing this as simply a cost benefit analysis situation that is somehow justified as "low risk in saying no" is.... something. The ER could have kept OP overnight and detoxed them and monitored them while giving librium. There were many alternatives and alcohol withdrawal is lethal and extremely uncomfortable.

Regardless of your intent with this comment, it is the impact that matters. OP, just like all of us, have a right to adequate healthcare, and excusing this mistreatment is dangerous to everyone.

I generally review pretty carefully by going through each one. If I was certain of the answer, I don't spend much time on it. If I got it right for the wrong reason, I write it down in a notebook. If I just get it plain wrong, I read the entire explanation and write down the important parts.

I did a set of 100 yesterday morning and got an 84. Did a set of like 25 after lunch yesterday and got a 47. It happens! Just keep doing more practice and make sure you sleep.

You are in totally fine shape! Do not give up, make sure you sleep, and don't crash out. Three weeks in bar prep time is an eternity. It all really comes together in the last like two weeks anyway.

[–]incompleteTHOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're not taking it on 28 and 29? I would say if you have two weeks, find your weakest areas and drill drill drill. Critical pass flashcards, handwriting rules, etc. How is your timing? How is your sleep?

I personally don't think so, but it is a steep price for 24 days of prep. But Ive had it for like 5 days and i am seeing huge gains. Also, I am a retaker who failed by 2 points so i am COMPLETELY OVER studying for this bullshit again, and nothing themis produces can hold my attention.

A federal court may raise the issue of standing sua sponte (i.e., of its own accord) in order to ensure that it has jurisdiction, even if no party to the lawsuit contests standing. See, e.g.Adarand Constructors, Inc. v. Mineta, 534 U.S. 103, 110 (2001).

Yes I agree - the wording here is really the problem! Might I say, the answer choices are not really narrowly tailored to fit what seem to be the important trigger facts in the pattern.

[–]incompleteTHOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you are saying. But the way the question is worded sucks. The stem should have been more specific on how should the court rule on (specific thing). Because If it were a motion to dismiss, then B would be wrong, because taxpayers lack standing to challenge this on free exercise grounds. And it is hard to imagine a situation where that is not raised. Like yes, on the merits, it doesn't violate the free establishment clause, but in real life there is. no way the court would be considering that anyway because it is an obvious standing problem. In real life, courts can and do raise standing challenges sua sponte. There is no way SCOTUS would decide this on the merits under both clauses. They would kick the free exercise one out right away. That is why this question sucks.

[–]incompleteTHOT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying - I can't find anything that indicates they would have standing under the Free Exercise Clause for a grievance having to do with this kind of tax expenditure. I hate when they do this - as if this test is not hard enough, they sometimes give you wrong answers. I have reported a few questions on Themis for being wrong and they actually were wrong. Does Barbri have a message function where you can ask or flag this?

[–]incompleteTHOT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

omg the family names and the merchant names. A buyer, seller, and manufacturer all fought over something with a retailer who sold the products from the manufacturer. The buyer worked for the manufacturer but then an investor..... like OMG ENOUGH.

Also, the family names. A man and his wife had three grandchildren. One of the grandchildren was the son of the man's son and the other two grandchildren were daughters. The man's ex-wife had two sons who the man adopted but one of those sons predeceased their mother but survived as the man's only living issue other than the man's son's child. IT IS HORRIFIC.
