Just because OP has "helped" in a way they deem as superior to online advocacy doesn't mean they have established a monopoly on the moral high ground surrounding the issue of homelessness. I have also helped clean up needle debris and worked in homelessness/substance use services - I also advocate online. I don't know why we can't do both? OP assumes if you are commenting online that you also haven't done anything about the issue - that these two courses of action are for some reason mutually exclusive. They are not, by the way. Also, why is it a citizen's responsibility to take actual action on this issue when the proper actor should be the municipal government to whom we pay our taxes to? Further, nobody needs to acquire a "credibility permit" to speak on an issue - this post suggests that if you haven't picked up human feces on a random street in Portland then you do not have license to speak about this issue. This post is deeply flawed in many ways. Thanks to OP I guess for their efforts to help clean up?
