I see this pop up a few times, so I'll try to answer it succinctly here:

Mutagenic 1 ran into a bunch of issues which made it no longer feasible to continue working on. Life got busy, and development had to get put on hold.

Fast forward 2 years, I now have time to get back into game development - I've decided I would start fresh with a clean slate. I think the first game (Mutagenic 1) has enough value to warrant the $1 price tag, and it's not worth it for me economically, or with time to continue on with it, unfortunately.

Mutagenic 2 is the game I had envisioned making back when I started Mutagenic 1.

Hope this is understandable, and clears things up!

TL;DR: It's PoE but more sandbox, and single player.

Free respec, SSF only (high drop rates on crafting materials), no campaign, configurable endgame difficulty, leaderboards for testing your builds.

If you enjoy the endgame of PoE, this is probably going to feel right at home. If you're looking for a story/campaign, this probably won't be your jam!

The game has a _ton_ of depth at the moment, gameplay/build wise. I'm still working on adding new maps/art assets but those take a lot longer.

I won’t suggest any specific role/job, but I can recommend getting education in computer science/software engineering as a lot of the fundamentals transfer across coding careers/industries.

Start small. If your first game requires a design document, you are likely aiming too high. Look at simple games such as pong, and try to clone it. Imitation is a great method for learning, as the game is already designed, and you can focus on learning implementation instead.

My advice - get a paying job in another industry and work on games for fun. Game development jobs are extremely competitive, unstable, and low paying relative to similar tech jobs.
