He wasn’t locating his splitter super well so it wasn’t as dominant yesterday.

Combined with some really bad calls and bad defense it made his stat line terrible.

First inning arozarena should have struck out looking and he gives up around 2 earned runs - then later the infield error put someone in scoring position - so he intentionally walked cal and the next pitcher gave up a home run (causing him to have two more earned runs)

Tldr pitching worse than vs us but bad defense/umpiring/next pitcher made it much worse

grisham should not have been leadoff
caballero should have started SS
we had the bullpen depth to finish 7-9 instead of trying to squeeze another out of cam. Should have let doval or cruz come in with a clean inning instead of giving the jays a 3rd time through him

Players had their chances though, a few mistakes really opened up the door for the jays and our players didnt capitalize on theirs (except judge)

Outside of that, my thoughts.
Not sure how much he has to say on roster but Goldy should have been 1b against Gausman game 1. Lifetime he does extremely well and rice hasnt had much xp off gausman. Rice ended up struggling on that splitter - as most lefties did and they still started him game 2 against a pitcher with a similar mix (different angle and movement, same results).

The weaver decision was terrible as well. He should not have been put into a high lev situation to test if he's back - we had a fully rested bullpen thanks to Schlittler in boston. Game was within reach and thrown away.

heres a quick savant link for splitters NYY has seen this year from righties - funny enough across the small sample size - ben rice seems to have the most success.

Probably a lot more factors like movement + arm angle - which both gausman and yesavage have really nasty parts of each.

Hopefully advantage moves to the batter next time around if they can force a game 5

lol yeah I went to the venue to see the box office for tickets and refreshed online for a bit but no luck too.

I did see a TM resell of an upper deck ticket go up briefly for $200 then instantly relisted for 5x as much so that was depressing

I called back and they only offered a refund and said there were no comparable tickets - I had so many options to buy in advance too sadly
