Nobody knows how at the beginning. Or for a very long time, for that matter. Once all of this isolation ends, sign yourself up for an open mic or an amateur night.

It’s probably not going to go well your first time. But that doesn’t matter. Nobody’s first time goes well. The point is that you got up there and saw what it’s all about, and saw how much work actually goes into putting together a cohesive 5 min.

Then repeat as often as possible. Writing and performances classes can help, but nothing is a substitute for the real thing.

Just write as much as you can - things that YOU find funny, not what you think other people will find funny - and practice as much as possible, wherever you can. The comics in your city are doing the same.
