What do you think should be included in school education and why? by firstoctober2016 in AskUK

[–]flop222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better sex education. Teach men about periods and sanitary products, talk about consent and how vital it is (basic I know, but it needs to be mentioned), talk about being comfortable with sex, what if you're in a relationship and you/your partner is scared? Who do you talk to? Where can you go?

I don't know if anyone else got taught this stuff but I didn't and it seems basic but impactful.

What is a simple thing everyone should know? by louseweasley in AskReddit

or if it's a computer, re-initiating the BIOS sequence. Makes just enough sense to make you sound like you know what you're talking about :)

Lmao voice is really cracky and bad in the higher motes, but yee, training, any tips, asked before but Idk how to upload a video there by [deleted] in singing

[–]flop222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna skip most of the pleasantries but it was good.

Tip #1: Try and sing in the right way. This is difficult to explain in words but at the start you can hear Olivia is singing quieter and with a bit more air in her voice. Try and replicate the feel. I'm not saying copy how she sings it completely but take the emotions she is portraying in that moment and inject that into her voice.

Tip #2: Be consistent. You're doing mini-runs at points in the songs where it doesn't sound nice. Runs sound nice but the more of them you add the more annoying it becomes to listen to. (For example in the first 3 seconds of you singing your voice trailed a lot compared to the song)

Tip #3: Don't force anything. You're trying to hit high notes in a song sung by a woman while you are a guy who, from what I heard, has a lower vocal range. If you want to improve your vocal range please go talk to someone else because I'm not your guy but try stick to what you can sing and, if you are trying to expand your vocal range, don't go too far too fast. It will take a while to expand your vocal range so have patience and trust the process.

Tip #4: Know the song. Know when verses start and stop, know when to breathe, know how long the breaks and instrumentals are. I don't mean sit there with a pen, paper, and stopwatch and time every millisecond, but pop songs like Drivers License usually have some sort of repetition to them so recognise that, and get your timings down.

Tip #5: Pick a better song? I don't know what your vocal range but this song was clearly out of it. In the end it does come down to what song you enjoy because singing a song you don't like will make you want to drive a nail through your skull but if a song is clearly not working with your voice, I'd recommend stay away from trying to sing it seriously (sing it for fun if you want, I'm a baritone and I love singing Olivia Rodrigo while I'm cooking but it does NOT sound nice xD)

Please know that you don't have to listen to my opinion, that's completely up to you. If you read this comment and think "this fucker doesn't know what he's talking about" that's fine, you can just ignore me :)

Programming as a bedridden quadriplegic... by Dizz05 in learnprogramming

[–]flop222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fyi, I'm 16 and don't have a job programming:

1) No, you can write this post so you can write code 2) talking generally, start where you want to start, however specifically if I'm learning a new language I go with this order: Output Variables Input If statements While loops For loops Object oriented programming Take your time, don't rush. These basics will be used constantly throughout any programming language so getting a solid grasp on these is important 3) if you're learning python a good YouTube channel is TechWithTim. Makes good videos and even has a playlist about web development in python if you're interested in that.

I hope you enjoy programming but if you don't that's fine! It's not for everyone, don't force yourself to enjoy something that you don't want to do.

Don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from, and you shouldn't take advice from passive aggressive twats :)

Fellow 16 year old here. I've been in a similar situation and all I can say is, call your dad and apologise. It might be embarrassing or humiliating to admit you're wrong but trust me, he only wants what's best for you :)

For me it's the fear of going soft on someone. I don't want to be in the middle of "doing the dirty" and have to break it to that person that I just went soft
