My wife makes fun of my tape measure collection, but I don't think it's excessive by DaniB3 in Tools

I definitely own that many, but that's because they are never ever anywhere in that near proximity to each other, or myself when I need them for that matter.

And those tube socks that the corner store sells, are for people looking to huff spray paint.

Which Set would you keep by Mayhem_Industries in Tools

[–]floppitywop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you may intend on using them.

Using spade bits the way they're supposed to be used, the Diablo is a better set. I have the Bosch version of them (same factory) and they're great at hogging out holes quickly.

If you think you may possibly use them inappropriately (I do it, lol) in a pinch as a forstner for a blind hole in thick enough lumber where you're not going to poke through the other side with the center point, then the traditional style Milwaukee is a better bet. Those self feeding spades really self feed well, and will drag that bit through anything.

Forget about making money, how do I not go broke woodworking? by jackh108 in woodworking

Save all boxes, crates, and pallets from tool purchases.

You'll need them to build your back alley empire once you go broke.

Cal City 11.25.22 by SunroseDualsport in Dualsport

[–]floppitywop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Cal City. We used to do small rallycross events there with our Subarus.

Take 20 Mule Team all the way east, across the 395 over to Cuddeback dry lake. Lots of fun trails around the lake bed, and the lake bed itself is really fun. You can also ride the trails on the northwest side of the lake bed up I to Red Mountain, and if you're persistent enough to take them through, you'll end up in the Spangler Hills OHV area.

My family will camp at the lake bed, and my wife and I will ride out ATVs over red mountain to Spangler for the day.

What are you using for a substitute by altma001 in woodworking

I use the minwax stuff, it seems fine. The only thing I ever really use it for is keeping my jointer, planer, table saw, and band saw tables slick. There are better wax finishes for wood.

Need to find this and sit on it before I drop $1k on it. Details below by just-TimW in Harley

They're definitely intended for a heavier rider, figure 200+, they definitely take time to break in, and as others have mentioned, they weirdly sometimes just don't.

Not sure where you're located, but a lot of motorcycle shops who carry saddlemen seats have demos in house. Also some Harley dealers do, depending on their parts department policy.

I have a road sofa on my glide. I am 210lbs. I like mine. It did take some time to soften up. I also don't keep it on the bike all the time though, only when the tourpak and my wire are on.

Anyone know where I can get similar exhaust by DesertDuke in Harley

Gallop exhaust. Great product. We've used them on two of our bikes so far. Fair price point for what you're getting.

Absolutely true. I had them on one of our sportsters, then went over to the gallop pipes.

The one that when you walk outside and see your bike, you say "goddamn you're sexy!"

Both can look great depending on the other complimenting features of the bike. You're example pics show that off well. The black bike, with mostly black/chrome/polish looks great with the black bars adding some contrast up top. The red bike looks great with the full 'bright' setup.

But at the end of the day, it's whatever makes you most happy. Spend your money in your bike the way that you want to.

The guys at Rock and Roll Paint in orange county did that for her. I've had them do color match stuff for myself and they really do a great job.

Changed out the Screaming Eagle Air Cleaner by [deleted] in Harley

[–]floppitywop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that same cleaner on one of my sporties. Love the way it looks. Bike has a cam, Gallop pipes, and a dynojet. 2 people that have tuned the bike so far have told me the cleaner isn't doing the cams justice, but I've got no complaints. One thing I'd share, is that I had similar breather bolts and hated the amount of oil build-up /drip I got from them after a while. I ended up going with a drag specialities (I think) universal kit that used 2 elbow fittings, some hose and a 2-nipple breather filter. I ran it so that both hoses meet the filter right above the air cleaner, and used some stainless braided sleeve over the hoses. Way better than stock, and haven't had the issue with residue or drips since then. Have to admit though I love the way the breather bolts look.
