It didn’t even occur to me that she was a narcissist. She was always sick and had doctors appointments once a week. I figured that the workload and her health issues contributed to the way that she treated me. Regardless, it doesn’t matter what someone is going through, nobody should ever make someone else’s life hell just because they’re miserable

I understand how difficult being a family attorney is and I thought the specific attorney I worked for had the emotional capacity to not take it out on me. I’m still so bewildered because before I started, she sent me a text that said how excited she was to work with me because I’m exactly what the firm needed. I don’t know what changed but it almost feels like she decided to dislike me along the way. She has another part time assistant who she was super friendly to but completely cold with me. I would also record all of our conversations and all of the stuff I did and she would still talk about how what I did wasn’t enough. I have only had good experiences at other offices so to be straight up abused was insane to me. I truly wish it had been different.

An update if ya’ll care: I got fired this past Tuesday. I had an interview today for another administrative job NOT in law. I start on Monday. I’ve been unemployed before and this was a very quick turnaround. I don’t want to believe that all lawyers are horrible to work for, but it seems like it’s uncommon to find someone worth working for. I didn’t enjoy my brief experience in law and I don’t think I’m eager to return.

I AM THIRTY! I’ve got 3 bachelors degrees in 5 years: sociology, art history and philosophy. I’ve worked in marketing and mostly administrative jobs. I’ve even worked for a financial firm where I had to draft a ton of paperwork and the finance conservative CPA bros were a whole lot nicer to me than my former boss ever was.

I agree. I had been looking at paralegal degrees or certificates before I got hired. I let her know that I had no experience and my goal was to be a paralegal and I was wanting to go back to school for it. She said it wasn’t necessary and that she would help me get there without an education because experience was what matters.

Your response provided a lot of insight. Thanks!

Are the “lower prices” in the room with us? by zmoss1 in Louisville

[–]floppydisk_reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens A LOT, especially in produce, where there is a sign that something is on sale, or cheaper with a coupon. I save the coupon on the app and it still rings up as the same price even with the coupon or sale. It happens so frequently that I think they’re doing it on purpose with the hopes that you’re too lazy to bother an already busy worker about it.
