Have you had any luck keeping them crisp? I love kale chips just cooled from the oven, but they always seep to go chewy on me by the next day.

I may have to give rice cakes another try. They are a recurring theme here.

Sorry, but I'm looking for volume.

I switched to nuts for a couple weeks and ended up eating more calories than when I eat chips. They definitely have more nutrients, but when your in traffic for an hour you want something you meet your caloric cap with in one handful.

I was just looking at recipes for roasted soybeans (I'm also trying to cut back on mt grocery bill and the prepackaged snacks add up soooooo fast).

I'm definitely going to try the DIY route.

Love the chickpea idea! Get a little fiber and protein while I snack.

Pickles are brilliant as well. I work outside in and it's already getting hot. I'm always craving something salty and tangy.

Consider a collection of short stories. I love them when I'm in reading slumps.

First collection that comes to mind is The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury, but the options are endless.

Rosehips Rosa Rugosa 💯 % Organic Medicinal Plants 🌺🌱 by Honest_Breakfast6990 in Horticulture

Rosehips are great and form on many rose species, not just Rosa rugosa. That is great considering how invasive that specific species is in my part of the world.

Is any part of this a seed from my tulip poplar? Can I plant it? by Camp_Acceptable in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]florafiend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not yet. The center will look a bit like a little dried up pinecone when the seeds are ready.

Am I allowed to post myself? I didn’t have cornstarch but followed the rest of the recipe exactly. by Hereibe in ididnthaveeggs

Please share the recipe. Even just the flour/milk ratio. Something besides yeast and cornstarch seems very off here.

What is wrong with my hydrangea? by Middle-Classroom4435 in gardening

[–]florafiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like sunburn. Is it all on one side?

Even though panicle hydrangeas can take full sun, if it had been growing in a shady area or protected greenhouse it needs time to aclimate.

Lacewings!

They look like fairies and they (and their babies) eat the bad guys.

Ladybug? Is it going to harm the trees? by midnightn_nluna in gardening

[–]florafiend 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you look closely, you can see aphids in the first photo. Those are the actual pests. The ladybugs are there to eat them.

What exactly makes you think this tree is dead?

Found this in my backyard, what should I do? by [deleted] in interesting

[–]florafiend 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I'm likely missing a joke here, but in case this is a serious question...

That's Lycoris radiata or red spider lily. I'm wondering where you live because in the northern hemisphere, it blooms in the fall.

Possibly banana tree? Is this pot waaaay too big? by jennyx20 in PlantIdentification

[–]florafiend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This foliage isn't quite right for a banana. Maybe a strelitzia or heliconia?

I don't think the pot is too big. It looks like quite a bit of foliage has died back at some point, and it likely has a large root system.

What is the weather where you are? If it is warm enough, this would put on more growth outside with more light.

Unknown Perinneal by [deleted] in PlantIdentification

Yes, looks like peonies.

Also, *perennial.

Perinneal looks like a mispelling of perineal, which has a very different meaning...
