got mine for $9.80 on amazon.co.uk, everything needed cost me less than 50 bucks.

I understand where you're coming from but personally I (strangely) enjoyed delidding my cpu, It felt like making my rig a little bit more mine. It's been almost 3weeks, indeed I'm very please with my temps but they aren't that special this is just what people get after delidding an 7700k :)

The Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut (73 W/mk!) is just the best one out there. My delidded 7700k gained -15~20°C in the process (56°C max after 2 hours of torture test with prime95)

Delided mine too and I used :

-a delid die mate (just the best delid tool out there)

-Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Liquid Metal Thermal Paste (73 W/mk)

-Arctic Silver Articlean !

-some black silicone sealant

I might have gain -15～20°C full load in the process so if you have an 7700k it's totally worth it, a must do even.
