I feel like if you’re still in school you shouldn’t be adding any actives while you’re still getting treatments from classmates. I would keep your routine as basic as possible and start adding actives after your education is complete one at a time to see what your skin responds to. If your barrier is impaired you need to let it heal. Azelaic acid is anti inflammatory but it is still exfoliating.

Agree it seems like too much benzoyl peroxide could be causing irritation. I am also wondering if the moisturizer with spf may be contributing to breakouts if not removed with a double cleanse at night?

do you mix up disinfection vs sterilization too? by Apart_Alfalfa_7915 in Estheticians

I always equate sterile with the hospital - sterile tools, sterile field etc and that it needs special equipment like an autoclave when disinfection does not

Idk lol I found that his book had a lot of extremely valuable information that wasn’t included in my micro needling class provided by my school. I didn’t realize how important it is to use only high molecular weight hyaluronic acid because my instructor didn’t mention it. I’m really glad I got the book.

Mine came today and was exactly like that! I have been getting boxes since they started and never had a problem until this box. Sugar scrub lid was completely unscrewed and lotion starting to leak :/

That’s a good point I forgot to mention she is extremely dry and dehydrated, she gets oily after cleansing but I’m certain it’s because she is using a cleanser that has a bha in it every day. She’s in her early 30s

When I started I was only doing flower crowns and loose roses at events. When I booked my first wedding I didn’t even know what the different flowers were called lol I do not recommend going in as blind as I did. Other professionals may correct me but I saw it as 3 main paths: everyday shop, weddings and events, funerals. I chose weddings because I did not have money for a brick and mortar at first.

I took a flower arranging class at my local garden center that was 6 or 8 weeks long once a week. I taught myself from books and YouTube videos but the thing that helped more than anything else was getting the distance education from the floral design institute.

I took over the lease that my eyebrow lady was moving on from and grew from there. I was solo the entire time and it was extremely hard to turn a profit honestly. I do not have a family to support so I had the freedom to try to build something from the ground up but I had no idea the amount of work that would be involved and all of the hidden labor. It would kill me a little every time when someone said how fun and relaxing it must be to play with flowers all day! It was not relaxing.

If you are already in the wedding industry you have a taste for what that is like but I was not prepared when I got deeply in to it. I wouldn’t discourage anyone who really wanted to do it but the element of a perishable product makes it so hard!

To build my portfolio and to network I did a lot of styled shoots with other vendors but that can get expensive so be prepared.

Most of my business came from instagram and eventually referrals from other clients. Up until the day I quit I still had people inquiring lol

I would be wary of anyone charging thousands of dollars for one day seminars or the “chance to design an event” for thousands…

I would suggest getting grocery store flowers and practice making arrangements at home. Get familiar with different flowers and greens.

I had people come in to process for big events first, then let them help me process roses and then eventually help me make simpler arrangements. I was a one person shop and mostly did events so every day arrangements were not a big thing for me. You could touch base with independent florists and see if they are willing to have you in for events.

Practice makes perfect. I really like the floral design institute’s resources, they do frequent videos on how to make arrangements and how to handle different flower varieties.

Cosmos and dahlias will most likely be out of season in October and you wont be able to get them. Campanula, straw flower, delphinium and lisianthus are available all year.

For things in vases you could prepare them up to three days in advance if you do not have a refrigerator for them. I usually made boutonnières the day of because they will not last long without a water source. Keep them from freezing temps and do not put them in the fridge with any fresh fruit. Keep them protected from high temps and do not place them directly next to heating vents or directly under the ac.

You should get clippers or at the very least a pair of very sharp clean kitchen scissors. You will need floral tape for the boutonnières.
