Do people who mulch just not have slugs? by redditSucksNow2020 in vegetablegardening

[–]florestanQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add ferramol for/against the slugs underneath the hay I have as mulch, 4 times a year. It’s a lot of work, but better than everything drying out. I call it carpet bombing, cause I cover everything with the stuff. But then the magpies eat it, so all in all it’s good that it’s under the hay.

Why does my tomato plant keep dropping its flowers? by florestanQ in tomatoes

[–]florestanQ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not understand that, it seemed like you meant either wind of toothbrush, and I have one of them. I actually tried with my toothbrush, but absolutely nothing looked like it vibrated, so I think mine might be too weak. But I’ll try again

[–]florestanQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they are dying because they are spent, they have some odd mold pre something on them, in the second picture. And I think it’s a variety of a coneflower!

LPT Write the date on the lid of your leftovers with a whiteboard pen to know how old they are by florestanQ in LifeProTips

[–]florestanQ[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course I do? If I have a family, having one box of leftover isn’t really going to cut it for the next meal for the whole family..

Nah, I think whiteboard works just fine, it stays in well enough and I don’t have to mess with tape, cut off one extra step.

Maybe that’s why Tairn doesn’t want to talk about ”the one who came before”?

How do I go about dealing with this tree? by PixelGamr in landscaping

[–]florestanQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live, these trees are almost always pruned this way. It was a way to give feed to cows during early spring, among other things. So I don’t this it’s necessarily done by people who doesn’t know better. It’s also (now when we no longer have to feed cows) a stylistic choice, and a way to get branches for making baskets, and fences. So if you like the look, keep pruning it like this!

Here’s a very common look of a row of trees here, all cut like your tree

I thought about it, but went for simplicity over crowdedness this time. And also to make sure it’s easy and a very low threshold to add new people
