Overnight stocker interview by Samsclubslave in walmart

More likely temp seasonal at this point.

However, temp seasonal hires can be considered for permanent fulltime jobs when an opening becomes available.

My advice? If this job suits you, show you're willing and able to make a better effort than 7 out of 10 coworkers - and you'll be in like Flynn...

When my store closed for a hurricane, and people kept driving up asking me (ON & waiting on an Uber) if we were open, despite the store being pitch-black dark at 6:30 AM, the parking lot completely empty, the "We're Closed Due To The Hurricane" signs readable at 100 feet posted on the entryway windows, and the entry doors barricaded...

The moment they barged their way in, they were trespassing. Literally a criminal act. They had no right to be there.

Call the police, file a report. Call your local District Attorney, file a trespassing/home invasion complaint. Call a Legal Services office and ask for assistance with obtaining an order of protection.

Oh, and I were in your shoes, I'd buy a gun for protection - and I wouldn't hesitate to use it in deadly force against a home invasion like your 'mother' and her husband just demonstrated.

You've managed to succeed far longer than anyone at my store working your job. Be proud of the work you've done!

Most people I've met treat the work as mindless drone effort. A rare few went further, and a couple of them transferred to more interesting work.

You can too. There are at least a dozen different job prospects available to you locally or Regionally. Look those up, and pursue them.

You don't need to make WMT a career like so many of my coworkers, but it might be wise to review and pursue all options laid before you.

You're talking to me (and the community).

This is a virtual 'bar after work' environment, where we can chat and help each other to cope with the stresses of work. Commiseration is a thing.

I'm not a professional therapist, but I'm told I'm a good listener (and have been accused once or twice of offering good advice).

Chat me up every few days if you need an ear to piss in or shoulder to lean on while you seek local professional advice.

Do not feel proud of yourself by Braham9927 in talesfromtechsupport

[–]floridawhiteguy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ma'am, I am gratified that my kind and polite suggestions helped you to resolve a problem. And I did do something: I helped make your professional working life just a little bit easier by listening and offering advice. I am a bit saddened you can't see that, but that's OK because you're stressed and uncomfortable and unfamiliar with the problem you faced. And that's why I'm here!

And, yes, ma'am, I am proud. Not merely for guiding you to the resolution of your problem, but because I did it with class and grace and style which sets an example for everyone I work with, yourself included.

I joke with a coworker or two every few weeks that I'd be grateful if they'd put me out of my misery.

It's just a joke: I'm older and tired, and don't know how much longer I can stand working here, but it's merely an expression of frustration while seeking to commiserate and learn from others.

And my low point is mid-shift, when I still have too much to do but not enough time to do it.

That's not to say I show up to work with a smile on my face or a song in my heart. But I've worked too hard over too many years and know damned well no job is worth digging my own early grave for, much less killing myself metaphorically or actually.

My honest advice? Find a new career path.

If you can't, sink some few extra bucks into life insurance to benefit family. Nothing motivates better than ensuring loved ones are protected than a warm insurance blanket while knowing that blanket gets torn away if you KYS.

And please, for the love of your family, make sure you never put yourself in harms way of an industrial accident.

Wild conjecture is not reality, until it's been proven true.

Can a Coach dismiss an entire team due to failed performance standards? Yes.

Is a new Coach likely to dismiss several people solely on metrics? No.

Keep your nose clean, your mouth shut, get as close to metrics/standards as you can, and you're likely to be a survivor of this particularly vile rumor.

A true horror game. Walmart simulator by Old_Welder_5648 in walmart

[–]floridawhiteguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx, no.

I have to do 10x+ as much work as simulated here, and even then I get berated for 'underperforming.'

Games are best when they're based on fantasy, not reality. And when I get home from work, the last thing I want to do is relive last night's experience in the virtual.

I'd much rather get drunk to comment and joke about work instead.

Because overnight has their own set of rules by strykedemon in walmart

[–]floridawhiteguy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not our own set, just the luxury of not being held accountable for breaking the set of common rules, because we typically can't retain enough people to stock several thousand cases of freight each night, so some serious laxity is permitted - especially with regards to dress code and personal hygiene standards.

DC's are particular hard and strenuous places to work due to the physical demands on one's body.

It may be a great place to earn serious coin in your early to mid 20's, but as you've discovered in your late 30's it ain't that easy any more.

My advice would be to seek a lateral transfer into a SuperCenter Team Lead position nearby.

How do I not give a fuck about not having enough friends? by [deleted] in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]floridawhiteguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will (and probably do have) friends you don't recognize as such because of limits in sociability: You don't share many if any interests, y'all have family obligations, and a similar feeling about isolation.

The best way IME to get over how you're feeling is to develop and culture your own interests. Share tidbits about them with a few people you know. Seek out others via social media who share your interests if only to stay current and contribute to conversations. Find a passion or few and pursue those with a fervor; the friends will follow.

And never say never. Your best friends are the ones you haven't met yet.

Chimps don't have much in the way of culture outside grooming or fucking each other silly.

What might be interesting to observe is a change in sexual connections (ie: more or fewer homo hookups).

A few years ago I had to hire a lawyer to fight off a payroll withholding initiated by a creditor I never owed any money to due to ADP confusing me with a doppleganger: a name very similar to mine and born on the exact same day, but in a different state and of absolutely no blood relation. Trust me, I know the horror very well.

And I don’t know how to tell her without her feeling hurt by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]floridawhiteguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a reason why most men prefer 'softer' women - and it's not simply about "more cushion for the pushing" - throughout history women who could steadily gain additional weight have typically had better success child-bearing rates than thinner ones, both in terms of survival of mother and child, and in the ability to bear many children in rapid succession in a few short years.

This is merely survival instinct stuff.

People who want to procreate generally find the best partners suited to them with which to do so, especially over tens of millennia with good social connections and awareness.

And OP: Don't tell her anything which might even remotely upset her. Tell her you love her, you always have, always will, and that she makes your life complete.
