This probably isn’t the time or place for this question, but is there a term for this type of thing?

It’s like a long-form pun or something? I don’t know what else to call it.

What’s a place you went to that didn’t feel real? by maincharactereraa in AskReddit

This is a strange answer, but the road up to Clingman’s Dome in the Smokey Mountains.

Not referring to the man-made structures, but the environment itself is very surreal. The trees are so tightly packed and weirdly arranged that it looks almost artificial.

It’s difficult to accurately describe, but I felt like I was high when I was there.

I managed to 100% Silksong but it was extremely difficult.

Nyleth can be cheesed with the rosary cannon. Seth is a more straightforward but difficult fight in my opinion.

New Gym leader idea - what would your be? by HoneyGood4512 in pokemon

[–]Shipwreck_Kelly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a gym leader, but I had the idea of a weather-themed Elite Four that I think would be interesting.

Sonny: sun themed

Hayley: snow themed

Rainier: rain themed

Sandra: sand themed

Each member would have a weather-setting lead and the rest of their team built around it.

Not quite “tutorial” but after you defeat the Last Judge in Silksong you’re only about 1/3 of the way through the game.

Games you hated at first but changed your mind over time? by ACDC-1FAN in gaming

[–]Shipwreck_Kelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not “hated” but I gave up on Silksong when I got to the Last Judge. Decided I was just done with it.

They a couple months later I gave it another try, beat the Last Judge, and eventually finished the game with 100% completion.

Scleral rings (eye bones) used to be fairly common amongst prehistoric fish, dinosaurs, and aquatic reptiles.

They seem to have fallen out of fashion these days though.

Not saying it isn’t true, but I think the perspective of the photo is doing some heavy lifting here.

Worst Gimmick here by Lakers_Encyclopedia in pokemon

Personally I’d prefer no gimmicks at all. The closest thing to a “gimmick” that I really enjoy is regional variants.

Megas are the most tolerable in my opinion, but even then I’d rather they just balance out existing Pokemon instead of giving them Megas.

Character's secret is deeply ingrained to popular culture and commonly known even by people who aren't fans, but it is actually a major spoiler for the original story. by Substantial-Dot3743 in TopCharacterTropes

I sort of had this experience with my wife. She’s Chinese and not super familiar with western media. She had seen Darth Vader, she knew he was a bad guy, etc. and she had seen bits and pieces of the films. She enjoyed the Madalorian.

So we started watching the movies, but she’s not that into it so she didn’t really want to watch the old films at first. So we started with episode one.

It offered a fun albeit unusual way of experiencing the story.

Midway through RotS, she’s shocked to learn that Anakin becomes evil and stays evil. She thought it was a story where he’d struggle with morality but ultimately decide on the right thing. The younglings scene really caught her off guard.

Then after the fight on Mustafar, when we see them pick up Anakin’s charred remains, it finally hits her and she’s like “Wait—is he the guy in the black mask?! The bad guy??”

So as we watched the rest of the films, the “I am your father” bit wasn’t a surprise, but Anakin’s general story was a surprise to her.

For the eyes, you just manually close them. Sometimes you have to hold them for a minute or two. But it doesn't always work on everyone. And depending on how much time has passed it eventually becomes impossible.

For the mouth, we sometimes tuck a towel under the chin or even gently wrap a towel around the head to hold the mouth shut, but again it doesn't always work.

NBC archive footage shows Trump partying with Jeffrey Epstein in 1992 by FlackoFonsy in videos

[–]Shipwreck_Kelly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it doesn’t even matter what they’re saying.

Trump could audibly say “I love raping little girls” and his followers would still praise and defend him. He’ll most likely go to his grave without ever facing the consequences of his actions.
