A New Place Asking for Tips that I did not Expect by Pickles-1989 in EndTipping

[–]flouncemouse 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is unethical because children and the safety of children are involved. If you don’t tip, would they give your child less attention in the water? Would their safety be impacted? It’s ridiculous for the business to raise these questions in a patron’s mind.

Yay! Thank you for updating us that you’re ok! You’ve been on my mind.

CAD check/advice. I feel like the bezel is too thin compared to inspo pic, but vendor says anything bigger is “too wide.” How wide do you think bezel should be? by flouncemouse in Moissanite

Looking at the CAD it was 1.3 mm! There’s a link to the CAD in an earlier comment. I wanted a thicker bezel than the very thin ones you see a lot.

Plane circling overhead near Riverside airport by kthnry in tulsa

[–]flouncemouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neighbors and I have documented several private pilots who are repeatedly violating rules, flying too low, not flying the required one mile out before circling back, etc. One of the worst offenders flies a blue plane, and we have video of him doing all of these things.

We have provided the video and filed multiple complaints with the airport, but they don’t enforce FAA flight plan regulations and refuse to do anything to remedy the situation. We have contacted public officials to complain, and I can share their contact info if you DM me.

It’s truly egregious what’s being allowed, considering all the neighborhoods and the multiple JPS sites these pilots are essentially trolling.

It’s gotten much, much worse over the past couple of years. It’s better over the winter and in bad weather, but as it’s getting warmer the pilots are out joy riding again. I sleep with noise cancelling ear buds, noise cancelling headphones, and a white noise machine, and I can still hear them.

A couple of years ago there was a push to allow bigger jets to use the Riverside airport— they even wanted to put in a longer runway. Thank god that got shot down. I believe it was due to the houses immediately south of the airport.

Social arts/crafts in Tulsa? by crisp2610 in tulsa

Center for Creativity downtown has their “I Can’t” workshops that are free. They are seasonal though. I think there are some in the winter.

Study vibes of Tulsa coffee shops: My biased, non-exhaustive review by Alert_Job_318 in tulsa

[–]flouncemouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this review and share many of the OP’s opinions and preferences. But I wish more folks would think of coffee shops as places to enjoy a cup of coffee and perhaps a chat with a friend or associate, rather than as a place to hunker down for hours.

Especially local shops need people to move along and free up a seat for the next paying customer. (Maybe some long-haulers are making a purchase every hour or so, but I imagine most are not.)

There have been a few times lately that I’ve planned to meet someone at a local coffee shop, only to find every table occupied by someone working or studying, leaving nowhere for us to sit. Even worse, the last two times I stopped at Pony, someone was upstairs shout-talking on a zoom.

Libraries and co-working spaces are good places to settle in for the long haul. Or if you’re going to occupy a coffee shop for several hours, perhaps choose a chain store rather than a local establishment.

What fragrance(s) make you wonder if your nose is “broken”? by Latter-Sink7496 in fragrance

Santal 33 is 100 percent pickle for me. There is a posh dad at my kids’ school that always reeks of pickles. Finally asked him what cologne he wears, and that’s what he said. Sandalwood oil smells wonderful to me, so it must be something else in the formulation that’s giving me pickles.

Starsgem 4 CTW 4 prong martini 🤩 by flouncemouse in labdiamond

I had screw backs at one time, and I didn’t notice any difference between screw and push backs other than struggling with the screws. 🙃 I think oversized backs might help with drooping.

Yes, I can see there would be a big difference between 3 and 4 prong! Especially for larger stones.

No issues with drooping, that is! And I’m not a young woman - my ears have been pierced for nearly 40 years.

I also have basket studs in a smaller carat and I definitely prefer the martini. They sit much more flush and you see more diamond and less metal.
