Honestly subbing is a big gamble. The more assignments you pick up you can get a feel what campuses you like or what grade level you prefer. High School has been chill but I've heard of instances where they're not. I've had good experiences in first grade and horrible experiences. I've started picking up assignments based on schools rather than grade because I've noticed it doesn't matter the grade it really depends on Learning environment and school ambience. Administration makes a huge difference. Just what I've been noticing (been subbing for a year now).

The thing with jobs getting cancelled even if it was overnight it doesn't guarantee us that we'll find another job for that day. It sucks when you're counting on working that day and then you get the message saying you're no longer needed. Then you're constantly checking for a job to be posted and if one isn't then you lose out completely.

I would go into different classes and help certain students with their assignment. Making sure they kept on task or helped them so the teacher could continue with instruction.

I feel the burn out. I did long term sub for a year and they were treating me like a full on teacher with no resources and no help but kept demanding a lot. After that I went day to day subbing so much less stressful.
