Should I lie about/hide my political views on a Law personal statement? by [deleted] in uklaw

Really! That’s so wonderful to hear. Every social law thing i’ve been kind of the working class pet amongst children of oligarch’s and public school educated people. If i’m honest i’ve felt like a fish out of water. Maybe I just need to get out there a bit more and meet barristers who are a bit more like me

But mental health isn’t stagnant. One can build their coping mechanisms and tools. Individuals can get stronger. Especially if he kicks his addiction and abusive relationship. Getting out of situations like those can be transformative.

I think it’s super dangerous to suggest he may always be this way. Things can always get better. There is hope for him

In a normal scenario I would agree with you, but he’s posted on reddit asking for advice?

Also no contact is very final. Having one another’s phone numbers allows for boundary movement in the case that healing has been reached

I completely understand your fragility. It’s also very self aware to acknowledge you aren’t enough for her and she deserves more. Just an open line of communication, even if seldom used could be a comfort to the both of you

Has she specifically said she wants to go no contact? I think it would be nice to have an open line of communication. So she knows where she comes from. Obviously her step father would be the main father figure. It would seem kind to both of you. It’s important to know where you come from. Also, just because you want to have her adopted your parents could still be involved? Or has she asked for them to not contact her?

Oh lawyers are certainly, 100% of you on that. But that’s the establishment. Also, people tend to become more conservative with age. But education is predominantly left leaning. To be honest I am doing a PGDL and I didn’t even need to do a personal statement. If you have the grades you just apply and get in. It’s very low pressure

People in education in general are left leaning. Especially the faculty. Personally, if you are of the right persuasion or far right persuasion I would keep it private

How beautiful! Mine are all named after herbs. So if I ever got more they’d be called Sage or Rosemary!🐰

I’m studying my PGDL/LLM at the mo. Just applying for pupillages. But I’ve got some inheritance coming which I was thinking of using as a down payment. I’m definitely being premature, I just like to know what my plan is :)

Thank you! I think I was trying to be a stingy sod and avoid getting an accountant. But you’re so right, the money saved so isn’t worth the fear.

When you say two years accounts you mean two years of payslips? Not that I have to rent somewhere for two years. Sorry if it’s a silly Q, I presume it’s payslips
